The AI file is Adobe Illustrator file and created by Adobe Photoshop application, as per my advice you can try to open your corrupted or heavily damaged AI file with different Adobe Photoshop version because it can be happen your AI file is not completely corrupted, may be any chance to view your AI file if this technique not work then I personally recommend a third party tool I give you a link where you can download free AI viewer software and you can open and convert you AI file by this link.

Adobe are pretty good at hiding the serial number. If it is a Student version of the software then you will have to either Phone or Email (Fax) proof that you or someone in your household is a student.
