I have this 42" LCD Element TV with model number 42LE45Q. It was made Apr 2009 according to the indentification label on the back. It will no longer boot up. It first had the power button and other buttons on the side stop working. A year after that, the thing would not always boot up. No "ELEMENT" logo on it or anything. The blue power indicator light would come on, but no change in the screen. It started misbehaving more and more and now it no longer boots up at all. It does not matter how much I unplug it and plug it back in again.
I had the guts to open it up. There is one capacitor that someone marked with a yellow marker. The thing is a can style capacitor and the marking is on the metal at the top. That thing is not exactly secured closely to the circuit board, so I can wobble it some with my fingers. There is also a chip that mentions graphics with what seems to be like a discoloration on the top of it.
Any idea what the yellow marker line is on the capacitor? I am thinking they marked the part they expected to die as for specs of aiming for being crappy.
Any idea how I go about fixing this thing or if it is even worth it?
If it would cost too much to fix this thing, I would rather donate it to some needy organization in Chicago that knows how to fix it.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.
as you said jvc lcd tv won"t show. if lcd tv have good power supply & main board. that will be inverter board gone in. replace it will be solve you problem. good luck!
First check with fresh batteries. that does not resolve it If a universal remote- try a different code. If original remote, press the "TV" button first to make sure it is using the right parameters. If still not resolved, the issue may reside in the IR circuit of the set.
Your T.V. is programmed to store the last input you've selected. You have to manually switch it back to your T.V. channel input after each time you switch it to HDMI or any other input even when you turn it off. The "Source" or "Input" button on your original T.V. remote will change this.
I would just replace the TV, because any guess you make without the testing and equipment is just an expensive guess. New TV's are cheap by comparison. I have had a lot of TV'ds and the best do far is my Vizio 42 Inch LCD. 11 years old no issues.
You have a power supply problem. Within about 32 seconds the picture drops out because the backlite transformers shutdown. Yoy will have to find a new power supply or have some one fix yours.
