It will not be compatible, the slot on the right side is an ExpresssCard Slot.

You might want to try a USB modem

Can I download modem on dell laptop

Most of the time on laptops if there is no phone input for a modem you cannot just plug in and dial up. The process i use at home for my pc is dialing through my cell phone. If your carrier will allow you to tether your phone without extra charges check your phone manufacturers website for modem software. You then just connect your phone through a usb cable and set a internet connection matching your carriers instructions. Another solution is dificult without networking knowledge but you can set up a home pc with a wireless antennae as a ad-hoc server through internet connection sharing and then allow your laptop to connect through the "server" pc.

Laptop won't recognize dial up modem. I'm not sure if the small internal modem is all I need for dial up access, or if I need to get a PCMIA card. It's a Dell Insprion 2650 laptop. Thanks

If the internal modem is functional and the driver is installed, then that should be all you need for a dial up connection. If the modem is listed in device manager without a Yellow Exclamation Point then the driver is likely loaded properly. if it does have an exclamation point, then you may need to load the driver. There were 3 different modem models shipped with that system.

If installing drivers doesn't resolve, then a PCMCIA modem is a inexpensive option

My sister bought a Dell Inspiron 1750 computer from QVC and there doesn't appear to be a modem loaded on this model for dial-up. Is there supposed to be?

No, the Inspiron 1750 model doesn't use internal modem to connect to the internet. It does rely on its Network Adapet (Lan port) and wireless to connect to the internet.

My fiance is the the military! I sent him my old Dell latitude CP ... I forgot that it doesn't have a phone plug to connect to the Dial up on base. Is there a way to connect to the internet I don't...

I bought my sister a Dell laptop that didn't have a dial up modem in it, never saw one that didn't have one.
Dell sells a dial up modem that goes into the usb port for about $35, which I sent to her and it works. Basically it is just an external dial up modem.
Give it a try, just call the dell help phone number.

My new pc Dell Inspiron desktop has no modem built in for dial-up internet connection. Im currently subscribing to a dial-up service provider on another pc, how do I connect to the same dial-up service...

You have to configure Internet Connections Sharing on the PC which has a dial-up service.
1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel - Network Connections, right click on dial-up.
2. Clik on Properties, click on Advanced tab.
3. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box

After that you must connect the other pc to this one via network cable.
If you don'y have network adapters you have to buy them.

Do I need a modem card?

If you will be using a DIAL-UP internet for that computer, you really need a PCI dial modem for it and it will come with a setup CD that you need to run to that computer so all software will be installed for that dial up modem and that should be it....

Inspiron 6400 wirless connection

HI
If the browser shows working offline and wireless is connected fine then it could be an issue where work offline is checked in the browser.
In internet explorer 6 its found on File in the menu, if work offline is already checked, check it again to remove the check mark and then try, if its internet explorer 7 its found on tools, the same steps and in firefox under file,
Also try this step as well, if its internet explorer go to tools-internet options-and in internet options-go to connections tab-there is dial up and networking box-remove the dial up connections from the box-and check the one never dial a connection

also check the firewalls and antivirus programs, post your results.

thank you
