Acer Aspire-Desktop AM5630-U5209a specs:
Memory Type-----DDR2
Memory Speed---PC2-4200, PC2-5300
Memory Type-----Non-ECC Non Registered
Memory Slots----2
Max Memory Per System--4096MB (4GB)
Max Memory Per Slot-------2048MB (2GB)

also check your memory voltages by looking at the different memory voltage settings in your bios, write down the choices of the different voltages supplied by the motherboard for the memory.
Not all memory is created equal. for example, i purchased some high end gaming memory that matched my system specs only to find out it ran at a higher voltage than my motherboard would supply. Post again if you need more help ..

Can i install 4GB RAM for acer motherboard in widows 7?

considering that acer is made currently over 200 different motherboards accepting several different types of ram - WHICH MOTHERBOARD?!?

if you want an answer - you need to state correct question, telepathy is grossly overrated... in general - if your motherboard is running win7 and have free slots - it should accept 4gb ram.

to check and be sure go to the acer site, find your motherboard and check specifications for it, then you will know what and how much of memory your motherboard will accept.

Acer am5630-u5202a

I am not seeing any motherboards at the normal places I would look. How old is this computer? If it is less than a year, call Acer Tech support and they should repair it at no charge. As for sound card, it is built into the motherboard. If you have a PCI slot left open you could add a seperate sound card.

Hope this helps

5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard™, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO™ or xD-Picture Card™

Surely to load XP is a DownGrade. As this notebook is dual core, I would run Vista 64 or better still Windows 7 64.
If you wish to persist with an old system, you require SP3 for XP.That may be available from a software store but is no longer supported by Windows.
Try http://www.notebook-driver.com/laptops-information/acer-aspire-4520-notebook-technical-specifications/ for drivers that you will require to have support from Acer.

Hope that clarifies your situation.

I don?t understand the use of pointers in C++

Pointers are variables which store memory address of other variables.
It is denoted by an astrix *
Pointers and normal variables must have same data types.
Need of Pointers:
As said pointers variables store memory addresses of other variables, this can be used when we want to perform some calculations on a variable, we pass the address of this variable to the function from using pointers, thus any changes made to the variable will directly affect the variable as it is pointed to the same memory location.
It can also be for pointing various memory locations e.g. video memory. In the days of Dos we could actually read and write directly on to the video memory using address 0xB8000000 hexa decimal address.
Declaring a pointer:
int a = 10;
int *p = &a;
Here are passing address of a to p. Make sure that the data types should be same.
When we use pointers as arrays, it is much faster then the usual array iterators.
int num[] = {43,52,54,53};
int i=0, *j;
j=&num[0];
while(i<=3) { cout<<"num ["<<i<<"] = "<<*j<<endl; j++; } // This peice of code is faster than following method
for (int i=0;i<=3;++) { cout<<"num ["<<i<<"] = "<<num[i]<<endl; }
As we are directly working on memory.
Pointers are most commonly used to allocate memory dynamically, using new operator.
int *p = new [10];
This code allocates for 10 integer type array dynamically.
Dont forget to release the reserved memory using new operator by delete operator.
delete []p; // Frees the reserved memory.
This is an overview of pointers, as it requires study and practice.
Please rate. Thanks :)
