I have a panasonic cd stereo system, model SA-AK500, and each time i try to turn it on F61 shows up on the display and then the stereo shuts off.. What could be causing this?? i seen on a earlier forum that someone suggested that a F61 error is a protection code. it means theres is a fault with audio output ic.. does anyone know what a "audio output ic" is and were i can order one?
If you do not know what an audio output IC is, what would ordering one do for you? And unless you have the know how and special gear there is no freaking way you could ever replace it.
Either have someone repair it for you or go shopping.

Error F61 represents a failed main board(motherboard). this can happen during a surge or, it can be just age related or heat. the microchips are laced with a thermal compound and, this compound will thin over time. i would also inspect the optical lens assembly as well.
This model is programmed to show this code if the lens is damaged as well.
In most cases, it will be the main board.
Hi, i had the same problem with a panasonic player, when you see the code F61 in the screen it is because the audio output IC is defective, change that and the set will work perfectly. hope it work.
