I have a computer I have not used for a while. I forgot the password to unlock the system. How do I get in.

As soon as machine leaves BIOS screen and goes black, press F8 a few times until you see the Windows boot menu and choose "safe mode".
The machine will either then go to the welcome screen or some other sort of login...
Choose "Administrator" (or type in administrator for the username if so prompted" and do not type in a password.
Press OK (or press <enter>) and pray there is no password on the administrator account.
If you get in, open the control panel and then open user settings, choose "your" login and change the password to whatever you like.
Reboot, and login as normal.
There is probably a little jumper on the motherboard that says either CMOS or PASSWD or CMPASS. Put this jumper in the position opposite from what it is now and power up the machine... this should clear the cmos password and/or CMOS settings. Power down. Put jumper back in original position and boot up.
Again... Just how is this solution inappropriate? Please call E-Machines and they will describe a procedure of similar fashion...

The computer will not take f8 or anything else, it just go's to enter password to unlock the system. I have no Idea what that password is. I've never seen this before. When the computer comes on, it has, bios as f2, the the computer won't do anything with that either, it just comes up enter the password to unlock the system.
Everything has been helpful. I don't know if this is or not yet, buy I
appreciate all the help given.
