I have had this for a couple of years and one dealer looked at it andsaid it needed free-on but he wasnt buying any to add --and dont use it below 50-60 degrees----well I use it in my heated basement and it worked for 2 years and now it just freezes up --personally I dont think he diagnosed the problem or he is wacky!! I paid him 20 bucks too!! stupid me!! he was suppose to be one of their dealers to take it to---figure that and when I called whirlpool cause its again been sitting here for 5 months not in use they told me wll get a second opinion--so the 2 year warranty is up but if it is anything inside the housing its under warranty for 5 years----Model AD 70USS0
Your dealer who looked at it was almost certainly right in his diagnosis. "Freon" was originally a trade name for a limited range of refrigerant gases (the stuff that's pumped around in the pipes of dehumidifiers, refrigerators, freezers and most other coolers), but the name is often used colloquially to refer to any refrigerant gas.
When it's manufactured, each machine is filled with a measured quantity of refrigerant gas. This can leak out slowly over time, and freezing up is the common sign that this has happened. Most refrigerator engineers should be able to refill your machine and check for leaks at the same time.

I dropped off the dehumidifier yesterday for repair so I will have to see what he comes up with. Your comment makes sense and even the dealer I dropped it off to said that probably was the problem --thankas
