Not focusing I'm not sure what happened, nothing seems to be obstructing and to my extent of knowledge nothing has happened to my camera. However when I turn it on the lens comes out once, goes back in, and comes out again. Then the screen is blank, shows no picture until i push the play button, or until I change what picture setting it is on. Once the screen shows picture it will not focus anything. Any help here?

Same problem as the other post. Turn it on and the lens wants to go out, come back, go out, come back. I've had it about 90 days, I guess nothing lasts forever :) Bottom line: can't use it. It tries to focus but never quite makes it. The sound it makes while attempting to focus does sound a bit grindy. I smashed my low mileage Panasonic because of a similar focus problem. Olympus at least uses metal internal parts (or so I'm told). The camera hasn't been dropped or anything, just a lemon I guess. Time to go back to a Sony?

My camera does the same exact thing! I have had it for a little over two months now and one day it just stopped working. The lens goes out comes back in, goes back out until it shuts itself off. The only way can get it to not shut off is when I press the play button real quick. I have never dropped the camera or anything it stays in my house. I really did not want to purchase a new camera but from the looks of it I guess I am going to have to.

Do you hear any unusual friction noise while the lens assembly projects out.. if so then the traction assembly of your zoom barrel has developed mechanical obstruction, in which case it has to be serviced. Take it to the service centre and the problem will be solved. If the zoom assembly does not fully extent to its homing position, the camera retracts and lens and powers itself off. Enjoy

I push the button but it wont take a picture

Did you try it like it is said in the manual? press the button half till the camera is focused and then press the button completely down?
Don't expect the camera to shoot with the same speed as a camera with film did. Give it some time to focus and everything will be fine (I hope)
If not let me know.

Shutter button does nothing when pressed halfway, will not focus automatically. It doesn't make the beeping noise, no green box, nothing happens! I can press it all the way and take a picture, but t

Please check if yu did set the camera in AF mode continuous. In that mode, the camera is focusing on whatever is aimed at. Even when the shutter button is not pressed, allowing you to shoot without missing opportunities.
The mode where you see the camera focus when the button is pressed half way, is called single. This setting will conserve battery power.
Look in the manual under Switching between Focus Settings. I can't tell you war page that is for your camera, in mine it is page 100.
On the last pages in the book are all settings for each shooting mode.

Camera won't take a picture when autofocus is on

It sounds like you have a problem with the auto focus on the lens. The 18-135 has a focusing motor inside the lens itself. If this motor is not working, then it won't focus. It could also be the contacts (small and silver on the lens look like ball bearings buried halfway into the top part of the lens where it connects inside the camera body) or the contacts inside the camera body. These can be CAREFULLY cleaned with alcohol and a QTip or a clean pencil eraser. Just make sure you don't get anything into the lens or camera.

If the camera is over a year old, it may just be time to take it to the camera shop for a cleaning.

My camera will not immediately take a picture.

The beep and no shutter action is usually because the auto focus is not focused. If you are using a zoom lens try backing up or unzooming a little.

Sharp View cam vl e760 Pictures jumps

Set focus on manual and see if the jumping stops. If it does, check to make sure there is nothing which could obstruct the auto-focus when your filming i.e. your finger, the camera strap, etc.

Cybershot H7 focus problem

Things to check before you assume it is a mechanical issue-you can get vibration message if flash is disabled, be sure also that the macro mode is not enabled-this is very common on sony cameras to turn on by accident-flower button on camera will put in close up mode and you will get blur make sure no flower is present on lcd screen-if in macro press button on camera w/flower to turn off-also in menu you have continuous and monitor auto focus settings try changing one or the other and see what happens

E10 can't focus in dark places

The focus mechanizm does nee to 'see' what it is looking at. Check you manual see if there is a setting for fixing the focus so thatr the camara can shoot from near- about 2m to infinity without the focus operating.
