Your mainboard supports DDR 2 ram, up to 8 gb.

It depends on your operating system. If you have a 64bit OS then you'll use the 8GB. If you're using a 32bit OS you'll use about 3.65GB.

as long as it is a lga 775 socket chip it will workbut that chip will work no problem

You can try to go to the official website of your Motherboard manufacturer like for example "Asus" you can visit www.asus.com and all drivers for any Asus computers parts like motherboard is there, just make sure you have the model type of your motherboard for easier and accurate search.

Your problem is about the BIOS, you need one that would allow it to recognize that processor - get it directly from Asrock and reflash your board.

The E5200 would be a nice upgrade. It retails on Newegg.com for 65-69.00 and usually has free shipping. And if you have a compatible motherboard and purchase a nice heatsink, it overclocks very nicely.

asus tech support is rubbish.
i run my system on an ASROCK motherboard.
excellent boards, 2500mhz bus, can handle any cpu, most have 4 ram slots.
