Knemore 80 series dryer won't start every time

Kenmore Seriies 80 gas dryer
Model #76822690

Dryer was working fine and just stopped turning on. When the start button was pressed it ''buzzed'' but would not start.

The next day dryer started right up and ran for about 2 hours - then stopped again. Buzzed for a couple of pushes of the start button and then stopped all together.

I cleaned out the vent and lint screen and dryer started again.
Next day, only buzzed when pushing start button - but would not start.

Today, started fine and ran for a few hours but started to have a ''electrical'' smell so we turned it off.

I also checked to see if the air flow was appropriate - air flow was fast and very warm.

No consistancy on whether or not it will start - now we have to hold the button in for a few seconds before it will start....that is, when it actually starts.

I also really need a schematic of the dryer.

Go to www.repairclinic.com and enter your model number and it will show you all your parts, but I suggest you change your thermostats and basically have the dryer cleaned out of possible lint build up on the interior

My dryer wont heat up.suddenly stopped heating...rotates just fine.. Kenmore 400 seriies gas dryer..please help

Make sure to check all the thermal fuses in the dryer.
if one of the has not got any continuity then replace it.
there is also a chance that the ignitor has gone bad and is not allowing the gas valve to open.

I have a used Kenmore Series 80 dryer & the drum stopped turning

Good day,
Not hard to do but check the 2 rear wheels that support the drum and change at the same time if needed. Inspect the belt tensioner as well.
Here's a good tutorial on the belt change.

Dryer stops but the timer continues on

Fixed! The "push to start" button was stuck. Must have been some dust. I pushed the knob a few times and that's all it took. Works fine now.

Loud buzz when starting, then shutting down after 10 min.

Yes, this sounds like the motor cutting out on thermal lockout.
