Frigidaire oven Ignitor is on - smells like gas, but oven won't turn on. No flames coming out. For a while, it would come on after I turned it on and off a few times. Now it just smells like gas but never lights.

I'm having the same problem with my Frigidaire oven. The ignitor comes on but the gas valve doesn't always open. If you turn it off and on a few times eventually it will come on. There is an odor of gas as if some gas came out but not enough to ignite.

Same problem, turn oven on, I smell gas and the oven just gets warm, not hot...the Top burners work but the oven itself will not come on.
Can someone tell me if I can fix this myself?

It sounds like your ignitor malfunctioned. You might need to replace it. It's possible to do it yourself, without calling a repairman. Try checking how to do so in the user manual:

My oven won't lite and there is no gas smell

either the gas valve is bad or the ignitor/glow coil is bad, most likely the glow coil as gas valves don't fail, but both are in a series circuit and rely on each other to operate and light the flame, check both with a continuity tester and if they show resistance they are good, but get the specifications on how much resistance on the gas valve and NEVER connect the gas valve alone or directly to 120 volts a.c.

Hello,

The problem with your oven is that ignitor is weak and not drawing enough amprage to open the gas valve, the gas you smell was since the ignitor does come on it allowed the gas valve to open a wee bit but since ignitor is weak it wont allow gas valve to open fully. I know you going to doubt that what i'm telling you is correct, i base my diagnosis on my 30 years experience as a appliance repair technician.Replace ignitor and enjoy your baked meal

Hello when i put my temp for my gas stove on say 350, the pilot is glowing but it doesnt seem to flame/heat up, and i get a somewhat odor of gas, could the therometer need replacing or maybe the ignition...

Your glowbar ignitor part must be replaced, Unplug the range and turn off the gas. Remove yje oven racks, The oven base pan. Then remove the flame spreader. You will see the glowbar ignitor attached to the side of the bake burner. Remove it and replace it with a new ignitor. Replace all the range parts.Turn on the power and turn on the gas supply.

Copy and paste this site for the location of the ignitor you can also purchase the part from them.

When I turn the oven on it doesn't ignite. After a few minutes I smell gas. Can I assume it is the ignitor? If so how do I test for continuity?

Probably a weak ignitor. Turn off the gas supply to the oven. Remove the oven racks. Remove the bottom oven pan. Remove the flame spreader panel. Put a clamp on amp meter on one ignitor wire and turn the oven control on. If the amp meter reads less than 3.2 amps, replace the ignitor.

Lighting an old Frigidaire gas oven

Sounds as though the pilot light in your oven went out. On the inside of the oven there should be a small hole about the size of a 50cent piece on the floor of the oven. Turn on the gas for the oven, light a matchstick or rolled up piece of paper, stick it into that hole and it should light, monitor the oven for 30 seconds to see if it starts to heat. SAFETY 1st!

Frigidaire FGF326ASA gas oven

If both the broiler ignitor and the bake ignitor are not working it is unlikely they are both bad. You may have another problem. Need to check voltage to the ignitors to be sure.

Amana gas range bake burner does not heat

Pull the bottom of the oven off. You will see 2 to 4 screws that hold the panel on. The ignitor is under there. Look at the ignitor carefully for breaks. I say carefully as the ignitor is very easy to break.
