Clean it out to make sure it won't clog, when I switch it off from the mains it leaks
1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet),
check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is
anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the
dishwasher might not drain properly.
If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If
there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from
the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the
hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.
Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.
2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.
Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though
it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt,
because it is probably too stretched out.
3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash
impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller,
drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades,
shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump
components.
4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid
to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the
water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful,
you might have to replace the pump assembly.
5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.
Replace the motor if defective.
6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
see the diagram attached, and proceed according.
God bless you

My mother has a neighbour who has a new hotpoint dishwasher which caught fire inside (Plastic on door front melted!).
Please contact Hotpoint - if yours is new, check to see if they can replace immediately otherwise its worth booking the engineer to sort £90 - free parts on machines less than 5 years old.

If you have a Kitchenaid. You need to press in this order.... high temp, energy saver dry, high temp, energy saver dry, the lights will all start blinking, after they are done the cycle will start. Press cancel twice. ;)

I have a Frigidaire that does the same thing. I was able to push the start cancel button then select a cycle and press the start button, shut the door and presto it worked.

I have the same problem with ours Stock #17039 Type #575-0 Model # 665.17039401
SOURCE: Water not draining from diswasher
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa.
Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due
to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses,
knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) &
clogged drain pump & filter.
Also note that dishwashers do not
drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are
designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element
doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water
being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common
reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump
isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s
drain lines.
First check whether the drain is
not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for
blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced
recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the
drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not
been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry
vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything
else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you
have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then
it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.
Please do rate the solution and revert for further
assistance.
Thanks

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...
Please post back for any further assistance.
