The small socket that the charging cord plugs into on the Tabeo is broken loose and the unit cannot be charged. Bought in Dec of 2013 can this be repaired and is it worth repair?
So its a time traveling device also? ;) I assume you mean Dec. of 2012. It should have a 1 year manufacture warranty on it. I would call Toys R Us customer care and have them warranty it for you. 1-800-ToysRUs

Could be a faulty cable....more likely that you are plugging into the front usb socket when you should use rear ones as these are direct onto motherboard whereas front are cable connected to mobo.be aware that it is a 5volt rail in both cases but the amps are less than 1 whereas some external power socket chargers are rated as high as 2 amps hence less charging times.
If you look at the First picture on the TABEO User guide it is a little hole next to MicroSD slot on the side of the tablet
the user Guide is here

Hi! Hope this may serve as a hint. When power problem dooms to any electronic device needing battery operation we sometimes least assume that the battery life is near to its end. I mean its charging life has come to end. However, you can sometimes recycle it's life cycle by discharging fully and recharging fully without using it. Battery utility softwares can help monitor its life but cannot revive at all. Charging also using fast charger and or slow charger can help reactivate the battery cells. I personally experience, a gadget of mine its charging life is almost come to end and when I accidentally plug it on my laptop with 3.0 USB offline charging capability it somehow raise its life but not as good as it is. If the above doesn't work at all, it's time to change the battery pack. Goodluck!
Does it actually charge? I had a tablet in recently that wouldn't power on for more than a minute or less. Turned out that the power adapter was bad and wasn't charging it. Also, I have read that there is a firmware update that fixes a battery issue. It could be related.
THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. I JUST POSTED 5 MINUTES AGO. UNFORTUNATELY MY HUSBAND THREW AWAY THE ORIGINAL BOX THAT IT CAME IN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANYTHING OUT. THANK YOU, NICOLE [email protected]
I spoke with someone in their Tech department today about another problem and mentioned that I was having problems with it charging and he said that when I get back the device there is an update that needs to be installed in regards to the charging problem. So when you get a chance install all updates.
I used tabeo support and they told me to hold the reset button for 45 secs then use the USB cord to hook it up my computer and it came on. The support told me to leave it hooked up for a little bit and its been fine ever since
