the dell site has xp vista and w7 driver only for this old PC
if the device manager shows, keyboard drivers missing then try the one below marked,

oops dell lost the users manual after 9 long years, sadly
see the 2 keys below, blue, sun Icons
you push Fn blue key left side of keyboard
then push SUN key down. lower red arrow below.
if this fails to lower the backlamps
that means the drivers are missing. xp,.vista,w7 are all dell supports. (NO OS stated by OP nor hyjackers. as is par here)
Fn+down-arrow : key. if dead driver is wrong.!!!

follow the steps below;
At the right down part of your screen, right-click on your battery bar, scroll to "Adjust screen brightness"
Look down, at the middle of the screen, you will find screen brightness there.

it happened to me when i mistakenly turned down the brightness and i thought i had ruined it. It took me days to realize that i needed a flashlight on my i phone to see on my Kocaso tablet go to settings from there go to display and adjust the the brightness from zero to 50

On screen menu should have brightness and contrast, and other adjustment.

You should be able to use the "FN" key and "F5" key, press and hold the "Fn" key then while holding that key, press the "F5" key to decrease the brightness. Use the same(Fn) key and "F6" to increase the brightness.

yes! those are the screen and focus adjustments. 3 for screen, 3 for focus. try this. go in menu....turn down color, brightness, contrast all they way down. you should then have no picture, but in your case a little red. then go to back of tv and turn those 3 screen adjustments all the way down. slowly turn the screens back up until you get barely a picture. because remember, your brightness and contrast is all the way down. the picture should be dim but seeable and with red, green, blue adjustments, make it a black and white picture. when balanced..... turn up color , brightness, contrast in menu. enjoy!

easy...hold down the fn button while pressing either the left or right buttons to adjust the brightness and for the volume,the up and down. If you look , you might see there are volume and brightness pictures on the buttons

there should be brightness adjustments if you hold down the Fn button and look at your function keys F1,F2,F3,etc. There should be "cones" with plus and minus signs to adjust brightness

Hallo, try by pressing Fn and while is press down press also F7 key to increase the brightness or F8 to decreased.

if you are a tech open the tv and turn down the brightness from off the flyback screen adjustment if that does not work then the flyback will have to be replaced.it is defected.good luck
