Prints four blank pages between each printed document...

The printer will print, but between each document are four blank pages. In the upper left-hand corner of each page is printed a code--the printed page has a "2", the next blank page has "WI*A", the second page has "2CBA", and third and fourth blank pages have "2A", and then the printed document resumes with a "2" at the top. This is repeated for as many documents are printed. Our school code is 2A, but I don't know what the other codes are. Does anybody know how I stop this from happening? I've been through all the configuration menus and have created custom configurations for our jobs, but I can't find what's causing this. It's an enormous waste of paper.

Prints blank page

Have you checked the print que
Printer problems can be a real hassle.
From time to time, due to document layout or settings on your computer, in your software of choice, or even on your printer, a blank page may get "printed" with the rest of your document.
Fortunately, this issue is a simple one to troubleshoot.
Click "Print Preview" when you are finished with your document and ready to print.
Observe your document.
If you see an extra, blank page, you have created a second page.
To delete the second page, close Print Preview, go back into the document and eliminate any blank lines in your documents that you may not need.
You may also find an inadvertent page break at the end of your document.
Place your cursor on its symbol and delete it.
Locate the symbol by clicking on the Show Formatting paragraph icon in the toolbar.

Circumvent this "ghost page" if you do not see a second (or additional) blank page in Print Preview.

Specify the number of pages you wish to print, within the Print dialogue box.
This is typically done by selecting the "Print From" option, then entering the page numbers desired.
If your document happens to be ten pages (without, of course, that final blank page), then enter in the "Print From" field the numbers "1-10".
This will print only pages 1 through 10, without an eleventh (blank) page.

Prints out blank pages

if it doesn't print anything, there is a problem with the ink cartridges, if it just prints extra blank pages, you need to verify the printer settings have the correct page settings, and that your word processor doesn't add extra pages to your documents.

The printer prints a blank page with a line of gibberish in the upper left corner before it prints the real page.

Can you send me a "print to file" of the failing document.

At first blush it can be either of two things.

1) The preceding print job did not properly clean out the printer's memory.

2) The new print job, has data or a busted escape command in it that is being treated as printable data.

Send the print file to [email protected] and I'll read through the document header to see what's going on.

Prints blank pages

hi jcruisedirec

Test print shows that there is no problem with he printer.
Do this:

Type just one or two words in a new document and try to print. Before printing, look at the print setup and make sure you have the correct printer name selected.
Also when you go to print, there are few options like:

  • Print All
  • Current page
  • Pages
  • Selection
If you attempt to print "selection" without actually selecting a certain portion of the document, you get blank page.
So first check that the correct name of the printer is selected.
Then test printing one page
Hope this will help you. Good luck.

Prints 3 pages for every one

You may have an extra page in your word processing program.
Try using the print preview option to see if you have for eg 2 pages in what you think is a 1 page document.

Also, it might be a glitch in your printer software driver, so uninstall the driver and re-install.

Printer prints first page with strange nonsensical characters

I would move the printer to another computer. See if the problem follows. I have seen the issue a few times with issues in normal.dot but also in other office applications.

Problem I'm fighting with on my 1720 is its printing extra pages between pages. basically print a 5 page document and get an 8/9 page final with the extra blank pages. Think its a user error but could be machine related. going to try it on another PC and see what happens.

HP IIIp prints extra blank pages

HI there make sure that the paper tray guides are fully against the paper also try sending the job through the manual feed to see if you get the same problem. If you do not then it maybe that the paper cassette separation pad is worn and will need replacing. If your model has no rubber pad at the front of the cassette then you will have a metal hold over one corner of the paper make sure that when the paper lifts that the paper sits under the silver (Dog Ear) as this acts as a separator.

Hope this helps
Thanks J
