HP Color LaserJet 2600n Print Queue failure

The LaserJet 2600n printer is connected to a network and had been performing just fine for the last two years. Suddenly it stopped printing the other day. After I power cycled the printer, it prints one document and it quits priting again. It will print one document after I power cycle the printer and then quits. The panel says "Ready". I can ping the printer just fine. Any ideas??

Toner was fine. There was a IP conflict with the printer, I'm not sure what though.
Changing the IP address of the printer fixed the problem.

Our HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer quit printing. I can print the demo/conf page from the printer but cannot print a test page. I have tried everything from the manual but to no avail. It had printed a page and then it quit. Any suggestions to what I can check out. This is a shared printer and is connected via UBS cable. I have checked the cable and disconnected & reconnected. Also turned the printer on/off. I am at a lost.

Nice, That was right on. I added the 2600N to a server, and ever since, had to restart the print spooler after every print job. I went to the printer panel and entered a new ip address and everyone can print just fine now. Our servers give out DHCP addresses from 192.168.10.128 thru 254. So I just gave it an IP address lower than that. 192.168.10.27. No reconfiguring, or anything! Thanks!!!

Blue stars, be careful to monitor that often. it seems lately that anti virus and firewall updates can tinker with those IP addy's. Took me several hours to figure it out!!

Sounds like low toner to me. If the printer is connected by USB or parallel cable to one computer, go to that one. Click start-programs-HewlettPackard-HPlaserjet utility. The utility should let you see how much of each toner color remains.

Good catch! Each device on your network must have a unique IP - printer, computers, router. The printer must have had the same IP as one of the other devices. I'm surprised that error message didn't show up in the beginning, even before you printed.

Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

Strange Printer Issue - HP Laserjet 2600n

The last time I checked, you cannot set up a local printer using a TCP/IP port. A local printer is physically connected to a computer via a parallel, serial (very old), or USB cable. If the printer is connected to a switch, hub, or router via an Ethernet cable, it is by definition a network printer and the driver install must reflect this. I don't understand why it is able to print out the test page after the install. If you open up Control Panel -> Printers and double-click on the HP Laserjet 2600n in there, it will bring up the local spooler for the printer. You may have a bunch of print jobs queued up in there that it cannot currently send to the printer. You may want to clear the queue first (cancel all print jobs). Let me know if you have problems clearing the queue & I can give you instructions on how to do that one too.

Print jobs stuck in queue

First re-install the printer driver on that computer. If you can see the jobs in the queue, cancel all jobs and try again. Hope this helps.

Cant print in my network

I am having a similiar network problem, I setup the 2600n on my small-office network, plugging it into an 8 port switch along with a computer and IP camera....then connected the switch to the default router...this worked for a while as my router provided the printer an internal IP, but somehow the IP reset itself to an external IP,and print jobs I send now to the 2600n from my network will not print. I can't seem to access a configuration window to set a static IP address my router will recognize.
