How to remove fan control switch from JED8430 electric cooktop

I have purchased a new fan control switch, part no. 74009254. I have removed the control knob, the switch shaft retainer nut and the two screws from the control knob panel. For some reason, I can't remove the panel to get to the control switch. What am I doing wrong?

Cooktop Model, Maytag JED8430ADB. When I tried to replace the Fan Control Knob, I accidently pushed the Fan Switch and Knob into the compartment below. How do I get the switch & knob back?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. You have to lift the unit up from the counter use some boards across the counter to support it and remove the screws from around the unit under the glass lip. On some units there are screws under the vent grille also. After removing the screws lift the whole top off.Thats all you have to do.

How do I replace the switch for a jennair electric cooktop? model jed8430adb. Thanks!

You first need to remove the unit from its installation. Start by disconnecting the exhaust fan from the ductwork. Then push the cooktop up.

To get at the switch you need to remove the top by taking off only the top row of screws all around the unit and also at the top of the down draft cavity (the down draft cavity is where the grease guard mesh is)

Jenn air jed 8430 electric cooktop control switch for rear burner

The cook top is attached to the wood frame by brackets, just remove the screws and the electric connection, make sure the power is off from the main box, it's a 220 volt wiring and then just lift the top off. to remove the glass, look around the edges and you should see some small screws, just remove them and the glass should lift off.
