Kenmore 106.56542400 No ice, red lite blinking

I have a kenmore 106.56542400 side by side. I have a red lite that continually blinks. There is no ice being produced. When I open the acess door to check, it appears that there are cubes in the tray. Its hard to see, so I used a small mirror to check. Can anyone help? Do I remove the entire ice machine and then check? or is it cheaper to buy a complete replacement icemaker and reinstall? just wondering.

Many people claim that raising the freezer temperature and using a hair dryer to defrost the ice maker will solve the problem. As for the blinking light I believe that is part of the ice maker sensor to tell if ice storage is full or not. Here is a link to the troubleshooting forum. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker has ice in it but will not dump in bin!

before i would worry about the lights flashing lets pull the front cover off of the icemaker and verify that the drive gear is not broken.

on the bottom of the icemaker is 1 screw. remove that screw then just slide the entire icemaker out of the refrig so that you can access the front cover. if the gear is broken just replace the front motor module pt# 8201515

if the gear is fine then located in the toe grille of your refrig is a tech sheet that will help you troubleshoot red light blinking.
