Convection oven not working properly???

I've never had a convection oven before but I don't think my new oven one is working properly. I put a casserole in set for 400 degree for 30 minutes. It was barely warm. I change to regular bake, same temp and time and it cooked just fine. I noticed that when I cancelled the convection bake and started the regular bake it preheated from 300 degrees. I know that the over automatically reduces the temp by 25 degress in convection but it seems to me that it only got to 300 degrees ?? I'm pretty sure that the fan runs. Any ideas?

I watched the fan thru the glass door and it appeared to "stutter". Like it was trying to work. I opened the door and gave the fan blades a bit of "help" by spinning it.

It nows spins steadily but it seems really slow to me. How can I now if it's spinning at the speed it's supposed to be or even close. Shouldn't it be spinning really fast?

I've used the oven twice in the traditional bake mode and tried to use the convection mode twice. As far as I'm concerned it is still brand new since the convection oven never baked anything.

Knowing this do you still think the start switch is bad?

Are you not reading my responses?

I told you that I've used the oven a total of 4 times. Period. Twice traditional mode then twice in convection mode.

Your correct the only difference between a regular oven and a convection oven is that it has a fan.when you open the oven door the fan should be spinning to a stop if this is not the case you may have a problem with the fan.

the start switch is bad in the motor.how old is your oven?another thing to check is make sure the fan blade isnt just spinning on the motor shaft{there may be a set screw that holds the blade to the shaft so its not loose}.if thats not the case you need a motor.

  • Anonymous Aug 17, 2007

from everything you told me i still belive the motor is bad.is the oven under warranty?if you definitely seen the blades 'stutter' and pushed the blades and they started working but not as fast.MOTOR MOTOR

  • Anonymous Aug 17, 2007

if you rarely use the convection mode the motor still gets hot from the heat of the oven regardless what mode your in.and prematurely motor failure.

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2007

its the motor.they can be defective straight from the factory.i couldnt count how many times this has happened to me in my line of work.again you should have a warranty since you only used it 4 times.

GE JVM1790WK convection microwave

I assume you've referred to your owner's manual to be sure you are operating the convection properly?

If for some reason you don't still have your owner's manual, you can get it here. See the tips on page page 30.

You can also do a hard reset by unplugging the oven for a couple of minutes, plugging it back in, then setting the clock and trying again.

If it's still not working, you may have a bad sensor or other problem.

Fridgidaire Wall Oven will not heat

1) If there is a reset on the electronic panel try that.
2) Set the temperature to 200 and see if works then.
3) Put a baking tin in the oven with a piece of meat in it.
4) Uninstall the Wall Oven and take the back off and check the wiring for the elements and the convection fan.

Preheat gets to temp but oven drops 20 d+/- after food goes in. Is this normal

You may have already solved this but either your convection motor is not on or you have an air leak. I would get the repair man out since it is probablt still under warranty.

Never used Convection JTP 5650DI55

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.

Sharp carousel II microwave/convection oven

The question is... Do you want to put money on a 18year MW, or put it towards a new one? I must admit I love the SHARP Combo MW Convection ovens. I own two. One is almost 25years old. The mechanical Timer Type, but they work great and I can maintain them with 30years ef exrerience. I am now retired.
It does sound like the Magnetronhas broken down, however it could be other things in the Secondary (High Voltage Side). The High Voltage Side is made up of the Secondary HV side of the High Voltage Transformer, A High Voltage Diode, a High Voltage Capacitor, and the Magnetron. The High Voltage Side is DANGEROUS, and CAUTION should be taken to protect yourself against EXTREME HIGH VOLTAGE. unplug from power and DISCHARGE High Voltage Capaciton to frame GROUND before touching anything!!!!
