At the top of the screen there is a intermittent black bar or snowy bar that shows up. saw plenty of post about a black vertical bar but none about horizontal bar. most post talks of the upper y-buffer board replacement. and with the position of the bar it kinda makes since. before i order the part i was hoping to get some advice. hoping its not the Y-main board which is twice as much. wish i could post the picture.

horizontal line is an idication of a bad board known as a x driver board. Their may be a slight possiblitliy it can be a small ribbion cable that runs from the driver board to the plasma panel. Another possiblility it can be a bad panel... but from the symptoms you describe i would first have to look at that driver board. and the sympton that getting worse makes me lean toward a bad ribbion cable.. if that could be reseated....well that the first thing as a technician i would try. Carefull Television generate dangerous voltages.

Here's a link to order the original the JVC upper Y-buffer board and lower Y-buffer board for this model from a major parts distributor if needed:
JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Upper Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02760A)
JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Lower Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02761A)
Based on the symptoms: It is possible that the Y-buffers are faulty, which may require the replacement of the Y-sus board as well. You may want to get a local technician to diagnose the unit and provide a second opinion.

I had the same problem with a JVC VM-42X795. The repair man said a wire in the monitor is probably borken that provides power for that enire row. I stared with one bad row, but ow I have two.
