Tappan TGF336ASD stove Calibration of the oven

My oven temp seems to be off. I changed the glow coil in the bottom because the oven would not work. Now it seems to be cooking at a hotter temperature than it is set at. Can i calibrate the oven temp?

Does it have a knob in front or is it a panel to operate bake broil ? if it has a oven knob take it off and look in the back of the knob you adjust it there if it is electric if it is gas you need to use a small screw driver in the stem where the knob goes on and turn a little screw in there to ajust temperture turn clockwize to adjust temp up

My tappan oven won't work. stove and broiler work fine. ignighter glows but it seems like there is no gas.

I would check with your manufacturer and see if a professional can diagnose the regulator and even the gas valve itself.

My stove works, the broiler works, but i cannot get the oven to work. what's the problem?

Hi, Well it sounds like the igniter on your bake element is not working. For your burner to light an igniter has to activate to turn the gas on. It is a glow plug style igniter which needs to get to a certain temp to open the gas valve. If it is bad it will not get to temp it needs to be changed. If it is glowing bright orange and the gas valve isnt opening then the solenoid on the gas valve is sticking and the gas valve will need to be changed. I hope this answered your question and helps.

I have a Tappan gas stove that takes forever to heat up (oven) and I smell gas before it starts to heat. Help?

Hello,
Thanks for answering my questions. It sounds to me like your oven's safety valve is going bad. There have been many times when I am at a customer's house and it has been a while since they used the oven, and it seems to take forever to light the oven. Just tapping the oven safety valve with a wrench or handle of a screw driver is all that's needed to open the valve and light the burner. As long as your oven's igniter glow bar is lighting, (glowing orange or sparking), then the oven safety valve is your problem. It is a silver rectangular valve in the far back bottom of the oven with the orifice on top of it and the burner tube coming down over the orifice. Try tapping it and see if that works. Otherwise, just have it replaced. Douglas

We have a GE gas oven/stove top and the stove top is lighting as well as the broiler but we can not get the oven to heat up. What do you suggest we try?

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

Glass top is scratched no matter what I do. oven doesn't work ri

glass top stoves are not designed to do canning on, sorry. the only thing you can do for the top is that special cleaner as it has a "wax" in it and will help to prevent stains, but not scratches.
remember your top is glass and it will scratch.
your oven can be calibrated to help it to bake better. what you need to do is make sure you have a temperature problem that can be corrected by calibration. try to just set the oven temps up or down 10 or 20 degrees and try to bake the same items. if this helps then you can reset the calibration of the control as per your owners manual, if you dont have one then i can tell you how if you can tell me the brand and model.

WHY WON'T MY OVEN HEAT UP?

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
