Tv makes clicking noise but won't turn on

I have 40'' LCD flat panel about 1 1/2 yrs old and about week ago it became harder to power on after hitting remote or power button on tv. Today it makes a clicking noise and will not come on. Is it a power supply issue?

Is this something the average person can replace himself or does it require a repair person?

It is a power supply issue. options 1- replace the power supply
2- this unit has an issue with 4 capsitors on the power supply which sit side by side and are about 10 volt each replace them with standard 16v caps.

if you know how to use a soldering iron then it shouldent be to hard. just un solder and resolder. If not have a repair person do it.

Definitely a power supply problem.I had the same problem and changed the power supply, and TV works normally. Depending where you buy the unit, it shouls cost around $150/--, and it is very easy to replace.

Hi Friends,
I had the same problem with a 46" Samsung LED. There was continuous clicking of the relay and the red led also flashing non stop.' Power on 5V' line in the main board was short with ground. Replacing the main board solved the problem. I hope this will be helpful.

Startup takes hours, help?

The clicking suggests a power supply issue, a old trick I use in cases like this is a hairdryer, Try to heat (don't melt things) different boards carefully until you get a dramatic reaction, considering the brand which I do not like much less endorse, what is there to lose.

If you pinpoint the issue to one board try to locate that board.

My tv keeps clicking and won,t turn on

It is very possible that the power supply may have gone out. Which unfortunately is common on many newer tv's and other appliances. You can use a multi-tester or voltage tester to see if there is any power coming out of the power supply.

My 42" LCD HDTV LNS40ID won't turn on PISSED!!!!!

I had the same problem. I work for a mother board manufacturer w/offices in New Jersey and brought mine into our engineering lab after Samsung told me tough luck. Anyway, one of my engineers fixed it in 10 minutes. Essentially, he replaced the 1000uF capacitors on the power supply board with 2 cent capacitors instead of the 1 cent capacitors that had blown out on the CHEAP SAMSUNG POWER SUPPLY BOARD. You can tell the caps are blown via visual inspection. The top of the cap should be perfectly flat and a blown cap will be convex on top. Unfortunately, there are also 2500 uF caps by the same cheap manufacturer on the board as well and we don't stock that value for our products. According to my engineer, those will most likely blow next since he replaced the others with better caps, but I'm getting samples of those and will replace them shortly. After that this piece of junk should last me at least another 2 yrs! It's been working for about 3 weeks now w/no problems. Hope this helps.

Television picture issues...

I had the same problem when I accidently hit the remote. If you are hooked up to cable make sure INPUT is on the correct setting -- AV, S-Video, YPbPr1, YPbPr2, VGA, HDMI1, HDMI2, ATV & DTV (see button on TV or remote). Hope this solves your problem.
