The keyboard doesn't respond

Replace the keyboard. Something is wrong with the encoder chip inside, and new keyboards are so inexpensive there is no point trying to repair one when it goes bad.

Well, do you mean only the keyboard is locked? Can you boot the system properly? Is the mouse working? Which Operating System is running on your Laptop?
Here are a couple solutions you can try before you let me know the above queries.
1. Press and hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard while pressing the L key on the keyboard once. In other words, Press Windows Key + L once. If this doesn't work, don't forget to include the Fn key while pressing these two keys. Windows+Fn+L. Still nothing?
2. Turn off the Machine, remove the battery and unplug the charger. Leave it for at least 10 seconds, you can press the power On button on the laptop without the battery and the charger installed/plugged in. Now re-install the battery, and turn back On the machine. It should work.

You need to unscrew some of the screws on the bottom of your laptop. They may be under your battery, or under little rubber covers. It is likely but not gauranteed that the right screws will have little keyboard icons next to them, if not, guess, and then try to remove the keyboard, if it doesn't come off, remove another screw...etc.

Finally, when it comes off, there will be a bus (group of wires) connecting it to the motherboard. Wiggle the bus slowly and gently out of the port on the motherboard, and then wiggle the new bus of the new keyboard into the port and screw the new keyboard in.

The drivers should be installed automatically, and it should work right away.

Go to Microsoft/help/support.com and you should find a solution. Sounds like you don't have the right hardware or a bad software pack. Also make sure the computer recognizes it. Try another keyboard if you have access to one. You'll probably have to go to another computer to get instructions and print then out and maybe you can do it with a mouse if it works and another keyboard doesn't work. If you can get another keyboard to work and download the drivers for the 3000 make sure the 3000 is plugged into the computer when you download the driver for the 3000.. They do have downloads for the 3000 I just went and looked and the last keyboard I had was a 3000 and I downloaded files from Microsoft. Hope this cures your Microsoft headache; dhgill1949

Hi there,
The Fn function to change the bright etc is driven by the software called Hotkey software, please download the software from the Asus website and make sure you know the type of your laptop.

asus.com/help&support and its all done

my first suggestion is to reinstall you keyboard drivers
insert your windows cd and go to control panel-system-devicemanager-and locate your keyboard/touchpad.
right click and open, reinstall driver and point the install to the windows disk.
reinstall the keyboard drivers and see if that corrects your problem

If that doesn;t work, you may need to do a fresh OS install to get everthing back in order.

Ok, try this. Remove the batteries from the keyboard, just type anything randomly for about a minute on the k/b keys (doesnt have to make sense) Just press as many keys as you can. This will discharge the capacitors and reset the k/b. Reinsert the batteries, making sure they are in the correct alignment (try to use new batteries if you can) and connect to reciever. Press the connect button on receiver first, and then press the connect button under the keyboard.

If that still doesn't work, then your keyboard is most likely defective. Make sure you have reinstalled the k/b software first from Logitech..

is it sticky or not clicking at all?
