A/C-Heater control issues

The dash controller appears to work and the blower comes on and will run faster or slower on command. The A/C compressor engages audibly and I had the Freon level checked with good results. My issue is that when the system is turned on air comes out of ALL vents (defrost, dash and heater) and on hot days blows kind of cool until car warms up then blows hot. Changing the settings on the controller don't seem to help anything. The air vent louvers below the new cabin air filter are almost closed and don't seem to move no matter what the controller is set on.

The head control in the dash is most likely the problem, the control in the dash, will have to be replaced.,only thing you can try would be to disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 seconds and put it back on,then turn the ignition on,then start, see if the controller starts to work again,if not replace the head.

SOURCE: Warm air from dash vents but cool air from defrost

The system just needs to get all the air pockets out if you switched everything like you said look around where the radiator hose meets where you put the thermostat in, there should be something on the lines of a little nipple with a 8 mm bolt on it i will have to pull up the exact setup of your Taurus but its the same general concept your car is fine you just have a big air pocket , what else you can do is while its cold right now and the car isnt running is to go take the radiator cap off the radiator and see if the antifreeze is low now that the car has cold down since you last ran it. If so feel it up top it off in the radiator and it might hurp it self and remove the air pocket all on its own... If you need any more help feel free im always on here id be glad to help more in detail once you try that and look under the hood for the bleeder ( the thing with the nipple on it) Also if you could please rate me i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Steve

well the ac compressor will come on if you have it in defrost mode,if heater is blowing cold ,after you just had thermostat replace ,you could possibly have air in system.now if your heater motor is not working which is called the blower motor under dash it could be the resistor that controls it also these rigs have been known for wire harness problems at heater control unit and the blower motor connector.good luck, mike

2004 Buick Rendezvous .... No power to climate controls. Ac or heat. Blower fan isn't working either. Compressor clutch does not engage. Was told by previous owner the blower motor may need to be replaced....

It's not the whole dash. You can get to the plugs within a few minutes. The problem will be figuring out why it was unplugged and fixing the real issues. See link below to access the panel 2002 2007 Buick Rendezvous Checking Heater controls

Chevy astro

2 fuses to check, Kevin: in the instrument panel fuse block, 20 amp fuse #12, Htr-A/C. In the under hood fuse block, Frt HVAC fuse, 30 amp.

The new resistor you put in, was it called a "Blower Motor Resistor and Relay Pack" ? It appears there is a relay there with the resistor, but appears to only be used with htr on high speed. However the low speed wiring is also routed through this relay. If it was the Pack you put in, guess that is not an issue.
In the Heater and A/C Control Module is the blower switch. The power in to the control module is a brown wire (from the #12 fuse in instr. panel). With key on should be hot. It appears the brown wire goes to the mode switch and then to the blower switch. Check for power in, and check continuity of both switches. Or check if blower switch has power to it, then check for continuity in it-it should have continuity in all speeds.
If all is good so far, you need to check if blower motor ground is good.
Here can be found a wiring diagram for your Astro. Look for heater controls under the system called "HVAC". Every wiring diagram and TSB for the Astro (or any make, model) can be found here:

Check fuses 52 15A and 51 15A in the underhood fuse box. Check the Blower motor relay behind the right side of dash. Check the fan control amplifier (controls fan speed) behind right side of dash. Sound more like a blown fuse or bad blower motor relay

Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Have a volt meter ? Know how to use a volt meter ? Videos on youtube .

Air Temperature Actuator
The air temperature actuator is a 3 wire bi-directional electric motor. Ignition 3-voltage, ground and control circuits enable the actuator to operate. The control circuit uses a 0-12 volt linear-ramped signal to command the actuator movement. The 0 and 12-volt control values represent the opposite limits of the actuator range of motion. The values in between 0 and 12 volts correspond to the positions between the limits.
When the HVAC control module sets a commanded, or targeted, value, the control signal sets to a value between 0-12 volts. Actuator shaft rotation is the results of a commanded position input by the vehicle operator. With a new actuator commanded value action, the maintained actuator control value is changed.

Chevy Trailblazer EXT Blower Motor Won Turn Off
Blower Motor Control Processor
The blower motor control processor is an interface between the HVAC control module and the blower motor. The blower motor speed control, battery positive voltage and ground circuits enable the control processor to operate. The HVAC control module provides a PWM signal to the control processor in order to command the blower motor speed. The processor supplies 12 volts to the blower motor through the blower motor voltage supply circuit. The control processor uses the blower motor ground as a low side control to adjust the blower motor speed.

My A/C and heating system does not work. It suddenly stopped working while running.

I had to replace the blower motor resistor....15 bones and a 5 minute fix. The OEM resistor is a piece of junk...the replacement part is much more robust...I would try this first. It is located under the passenger side dash as an access panel into the air plenum...hope this helps!
