if the monitor fails on 2 PCs the monitor has hardware issues, does it? costs not a dime to plug it into friends PC with vga cable. you said IT Shuts off,? does that mean. the power button, has 3 colors, led status off black led. on green led. amber led, sleep. is it light going out? or just a screen black, if just screen black does OSD work on demand yes, no? if yes the monitor is not dead.(not totally) if no it is dead.
seems your PSU board inside if bad, if the monitor goes dead. Old monitors 2000-2007 had sleep timer. disable that junk now.
seems it is a bad monitor, but id have to see it and do many tests to condemn it. Most of these monitors died long ago. CCFL deathh(sic). The first ones made in 2005 so is 13 years old. Nevers seen one this old good. CCFL failures are classic and super COMMMON.: dead, blinking (strobing effects) yellow for white screens dim

YOU SAid.
As soon as it is turned on, it lights up for a second, but if left on for more than 15 minutes, turning it off and on again it lights up normally. I noticed that it is the lamps that do not turn on, but with the monitor left on it seems that the lamps, even if turned off, "warm up" so turning off and on it works correctly.
all monitors this old are dead now due to the use of CCFL backlamps at 20k yours it hits the EOL cliff of Deathh.
a 2005 monitor made
and ran for 12 years, a super amazing long run and now the ccfl back ground tubes are dead. (the go intermittent hot or cold too)
buy newer 2012 monitor marked LED and be happy
CCFL are junk now. pure.
The backlight or inverter is going out on your screen. Eventually it will just stay dark. You will need to replace one of the two if plan on keeping monitor.
plz try by removing the connector of the monitor from the back of cpu while keeping your monitor power on. if you get any message in the monitor then your monitor is ok. then open your side cover and try by resiting the ram, you have to swithch off your pc before opening your side cover. If you dont get any thing in the monitor then *********** board is having problem
Hi...there,
It's turns blue to power safe mode (yellow) it's prevent futher damaged to your monitor. It's seems you got a busted backlight inverter. Need to replaced a new one...Since you only got it for a few months, send it back to Acer for a replacement of a new backlight inverter... Have a nice day!
It sounds like the power supply board on your monitor is failing. If it's still under warranty you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer - if not, you might be able to have it repaired at a computer or TV repair shop.
Monitor going black after a few seconds can be causd by a faulty power supply or inverter. Some monitors have both as one unit.
Sometimes it is basic failed capacitors, After that then I would look at transistors.
The average monitor from 17 to 20 and sometimes the 22s have usually 4
bulbs in them. One bad bulb will also cause the inverter to not fire up.
Bad bulbs usually show pinkish tint, or flickering or are dark at center top or bottom of the display.
