Asus live update, cannot update..wont let me.

At first the Asus live update went through the process and reminded me to do the Aus live update-Bios. I was able access the site and wrote down all the information to do at a later date. The page I accessed read as follows..Bios setup screen and then load Default Bios Settings. Then listed 1-5 on what to do. I cannot find this site and reluctant to do anything. Now when the Asus liveupdate screen comes up,it freezers and will do nothing and I have to shut down the PC. My computer is extreamly slow. Can you solve this please. Regards,Laurel Handley

will detail problems here. All problems started with trying to download new msn messenger. At first microsoft said my router was conflicting with windows live messenger.Msn said to go into internet options-security-internet-active scripting, double click on enable, then java applets, double click enable. This resulted in further problems.Spybot icon in bottom tool bar comes up with numbers...process blacklisted....known ratings available.dont know what that means. Internet security warning....'When you send info to the net it might be possable for others to see that info'. Thats scary! Very slow to shut down PC...spybot s/d window comes up stating this programe is not responding. Is there any solution to this problem or should I just give up?

    Thaks for all your help

    good morning

ok the link you want is

    http://support.asus.com/download/downloa...

don't panic too much if that link doesn't work properly.... if you want... add me to your msn and i'll help you get to the site.. just easier that way ... add @hotmail.com to the end of my user name.

now i might add to this.... if your computer works.... .leave the bios alone as you can end up making it into a paperweight without too much effort.

download any drivers (or bios) there and update your computer... i'm uncertain why it will not connect properly but if there is a utility there for that updater... download and install it again as the files may have become currupt.

You can download the updates from Asus to a memory stick (USB flash drive) and install them through the bios. When I do a Bios update I prefer to do them through the BIOS itself at boot up.If you boot into the bios by pressing delete key at sys start-up. then you can arrow over to the flash utility and select the USB drive from there to upgrade.. Here is a HOW -to for you..

Asus f3j bios mod for upgraded ram

Not sure what you are asking about. Asus site says the motherboard will take DDR2 533/667MHz SDRAM, 2x SO-DIMM socket expandable to 2GB
Which means DDR2 533mhz 1 gig per slot total 2gig
or DDR2 667mhz 1 gig per slot total 2 gig

To enter BIOs press F2 at boot up, but no setting should need to be changed.

They do not have a BIOs update for increasing the memory limits.
BIOs upgrades from first to current are.

What are the instructions for flashing BIOS?

Hello use auto detect here to find the right mainboard:

http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en

Download asus update, this is the easyest program to upgrade the bios, while windows is running.

Install first asus update:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/ASUS-Update-Utility.shtml

When the mainboard is found, select download, and select your windows system.
Open the bios folder, and download the latest bios version.
Unzip the bios file.
Run asus update, and select update bios from file, and select the bios file, in the folder you just have downloaded ( the bin file )

Be very carefull when you upgrade the bios, because a power loss will damage the mainboard, while the upgrade process is running.

You also have to setup the bios settings, when the job is done.
You have to select F1 or F2 to enter the settings.

If any doubt download the manual.

Good luck

Model Asus Eee 900A I tried to update bios and all of a sudden everything went off now no power at all, buttery is in good condition power charger is in good condition tried them on an other Eee and found...

I'm sorry but looks like the BIOS maybe damaged - you'll have to get the BIOS fixed or replaced (on the motherboard) unless it has a socket. If anything happened during the upgrade process like a power interruption, it could cause the problem. The BIOS upgrade process does an erase/write flash of firmware to its' memory. If disrupted, the firmware codes become corrupted.

How can i make bios k8n-vm.rom to motherboard because i cant read from flopy this file , thank you

anaging and updating your BIOS
The following utilities allow you to manage and update the motherboard
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) setup.
1.
ASUS EZ Flash
(Updates the BIOS using a floppy disk during POST.)
2.
ASUS AFUDOS
(Updates the BIOS in DOS mode using a bootable floppy
disk.)
3.
ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2
(Updates the BIOS using a bootable floppy
disk or the motherboard support CD when the BIOS file fails or gets
corrupted.)
4.
ASUS Update
(Updates the BIOS in Windows
®
environment.)
Refer to the corresponding sections for details on these utilities.

prepare the motherboard support CD or the floppy disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility.
• Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS file in the
floppy disk to K8NVM.ROM.

Recovering the BIOS from the support CD
To recover the BIOS from the support CD:
1. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive, then turn on the
system.
2. Insert the support CD to the optical drive.
3. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks
the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file.
4. Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing
so can cause system boot failure!

Usb keyboard no longer recognised during boot process

Restore your PC before the BIOS update. BIOS updates are not required until & unless you face problems while running a software and it will prompt you for BIOS update. Do this update if its vital othewise do not intergere in the BIOS. I faced the same problem and after unistalling all drivers and again reload the original driver from MB VD slved it. Another thing in BIOS is USB setting at high-spped & full-speed. Try changing those settings and retry. Mine worked!...sodeep

Message from asus live update: please install asus winflash first if you want to update bios. my nb asus f3jp

Asus liveupdate, from everything Ive read, is very unreliable... Dont try to rely on it, try to go to the asus website if you need a bios update and take care of it there. theyll have read me's on how to do it-- it's not that hard, but you should have a good reason to update the bios as if you do it wrong, you could be in more trouble than you need.

Good luck!
