PS1 Trademark Logo glitches when loading in my PS2 slim

OK, when i go to put in Final Fantasy 9(ps1 game), it loads as normal, and then  the playstation 1 logo at the beginning of every game appears and then startes glitch blinking, and then the game proceeds as normal play, but the logo is still glitching and blinking over all the display. This has only started happening as of recent. I've played this exact game, exact disc and everything on this exact console before with no problems, its just been a while.

The disc has VERY LITE scratches, none close to that of some of my PS2 discs, and yes i've cleaned, and used one of those computer keyboard duster compressed air can things to blow out the inside of the playstation. The console still plays all other games fine, and i can still play this game, it just is blinking the tradmark screen at about the speed at which the disc spins, and this is a 4 disc game, and all the discs are doing the same thing

The EXACT same thing has just happened to my system. It is an NTSC-J slim that I was playing a PS1 version of IQ on. It played fine for a while, up until I used a third party memory card. I am not sure if that was a coincidence, but now I get the flashing logo only on this game, all PS2 games play fine, and I don't have another NTSC-J PS1 game to test. I though the card somehow fried my console, but just in case, I have ordered another copy of IQ. I thought the disk could be bad, because it has "sample loaned" embossed in the center ring. Either way, if the new copy does the same thing, I think it is safe to assume that the console was dorked by the memory card, somehow, and I will have to get another console shipped from Japan :((

have you checked the disc for any scratches or dust? or given a lite blow to the lens of the console. (key word is lite! you dont want to damage the unit)

I would say it's NOT a PS2 problem ..it's the legacy game..software glitch in the game program itself.

PS2 Slim won't load games (won't load final fantasy x specifically)

Take the game out and see if the laser is towards the back. If so, pull the eye towards the spindle or where the hole of the game goes.....and clean the laser eye with a q tip soaked in alcohol.....

I have sonyplaystion 1 yes i no old.....can i buy sonyplaysation 2 games for the playstaion 1 console.....

No, it will not be compatible. If you would like to play PS1/PS2, and eventually PS3 games, look into buying a original launch "Backwards Compatible" PS3. The model is CECHAO1. Good luck.

Final Fantasy 8 will not save to PS2 Memory Card it says "Failed to check memory card"

You need a PS1 Memory Card to save data from a PS1 game. You can not save FF8 to a PS2 memory card.

Final Fantasy PS2 problem, "failed to check memory card"

Im going to ask you the simplest of all questions, if you can't answer it then step away from the Playstation! Is it a PS1 or PS2 Memory card?

There is no reason why it won't work if it is a PS1 memory card unless the card itself is corrupt somehow

If it is a PS2 memory card use a PS1 card. FFVIII is a PS1 game. Therefore needs a PS1 card

2 PS1 games in almost perfect condition arn't working on PS2

Try wiping the disks in a circular motion with a cotton t-shirt, tissue or cleaning cloth, then try again. If it still doesn't work, try a PS2 game. If it works, try another PS1 game. If the other PS1 game doesn't work, the PS1 part of your PS2 system may be broken. Your PS2 has, inside of it, a miniaturized PS1. If that mini-PS1 breaks, you can't play PS1 games. If the PS2 game doesn't work, you probably need a lens repair. If the other PS1 game works, then your games are defective and you should get new ones.
