Hi, Flashing red light in Sony tv indicates that tv got some internal problem and went on protection mode to avoid further damage. Now it needs service/ repair. Blinking red light also has an error code that has info about possible cause of problem, let me know how many times red light is blinking after 3 seconds ling pause and model number of your tv to provide you helpful info. Hi, 3 times red standby light flashing indicates that lamp cover (first thing that you removed from tv to replace lamp) is not fixed properly on tv, make sure lamp cover is attached correctly with tv to solve this issue. 3 times blinking is not problem of fan or anything else, it is related to lamp cover that engages safety micro switch inside to turn On tv. You need to replace your lamp. Also check power supply and ballast board. Most of the time if you replace the lamp it will come back up. After replacing the lamp you will need original remote to reset lamp hours.
One question, why you decided to replace lamp in tv? Did tv showed red lamp light blinking? Suggestion, make sure lamp cover has been placed back in its position after lamp replacement, lamp cover is first thing that you removed from tv cabinet to take out lamp.

Blinking red light shows TV got some problem internally and need to be repaired. Now important thing is how many times that red light blinking? there is in-line fuse that blowes,caused by the fan vents being restricted (smoking can be a big facter) the vents should vacumed a couple times a month. you will need to have it seviced (parts and labor cost me 270$
The SONY Owner's Manual for the KDS55A2000 does not state what the 4 times blinking Power LED means.
However, my Sony Extended Care Service support insists that the projection lamp is the cause for the 4X blinking LED Power light.
I do not agree but am forced to buy a replacement lamp (not cheap) to prove that the problem is probably the fan, as the TV Technician states elsewhere in these FixYa support questions and answer
