I have a Sears Kenmore Washing machine that made a loud noise during the spin cycle but it continued working in the washing cycle, when it would get at the highest spin level, that noise would stop. Now the washer is not working at all. When you try now to start it in any mode but the spin cycle, it makes this humming sound. In the spin cycle it makes no noise at all. What's my next move?
I agree with Gittos on the bearing assessment. This considered part of the drive system. If it's less than 5 years old, your next move is to contact Sears and claim a warranty repair on the tranny (it has a 5 year warranty on it). If it's more than 5? Well, honestly it wouldn't be worth the repair. You'd have spent more money on all the parts required than what the unit is worth (worth= what it would sell for in working condition on the market). Hope it's less than 5!
The only part that makes a loud noise is your bearings m8 other than that could be a bra wire stuck inbetween your drum and casing m8

I have a kenmore top load model #11022942101. makes a very loud banging during spin cycle. try to rebuild clutch - same thing - didn't work.
My washer is a whirlpool, but i'm having simular problems. When it's finished with the spin cycle and starts slowing down there is a very loud noise like the load is unbalenced. Almost like the basket and the fabric dispencer are not conected anymore. The basket still spins while the dispecer stays in place The washer works fine besides that it run through all cycles and there is no burning smell. I'm affraid to keep washing close though. I think it might tare it up to keep using it.
I also have a Kenmore 80 series top loading washer that makes a terrible noise while on the spin cycle. After it's finished spinning, it comes to a very sudden and abrupt stop. It is not even 4 years old. Worth repairing or consider buying new?
Maytag washer stopped during spin cycle and will not work at all now, there's still water in the tub and will not drain out. Have tried to unplugg and plug back in and tried the breaker and nothing worked. Now there machine makes a strange humming sound when tried different cycles.
