Water leaks from freezer compartment onto the floor. Ice forms on bottom of freezer, then melts onto the floor.

In addition to the the other answers, also check to make sure your ice maker is not leaking around the the equipment box. Except for water on the floor, I had the same problem as you did, ice in the bottom of the freezer. It turned out to be the ice maker leaking, which is a common problem with that particular ice maker. I bought one on line and replaced it myself. If that is part of your problem, I can give you instructions on replacing it. It's not too hard.

I had the same problem. The ice maker started leaking water into the ice storage bin. I had to replace the ice maker. I did it myself and it’s easy. I ordered one over the internet. Here’s the link to the Sears parts: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/Kenmore-elite-Refrigerator-Parts/61005508/0046/464/Model-59676603600/0583/0161000.html
You’ll see three adjusting screws on the side of new ice. They preset at the factory so don’t touch them!
Ice maker replacement Instructions for bottom freezers: First, use your refrigerator to store the frozen food because it will only take you about 30 minutes to replace the ice maker. Unplug the power. Lift the ice maker wire switch to shut it off. One step no one tells you about but makes the job much easier is to remove the freezer sliding door. Remove the wire mesh storage tray in the freezer. Then with the drawer door pulled out, lift it up slightly with the handle, which releases it, and slide it out of the rails. Now you got it made! Carefully pull the front plastic cover off the ice maker. When you pull on it, you will see it separate from the rest of the machine. It simply snaps off and on the maker. You may need it for you new machine. Mine did not come with one. Unplug the wiring harness from the top back of the freezer. There are two hex head screws that hold the ice make to the side of the freezer. Unscrew them and the ice maker is free to remove. If your new maker did not come with the wire switch, simple pull the old one out of each side the switch mechnisiam and slide it into the new one. Now reverse the above steps to install your new maker. It may take an hour or so for it to start operating, just be patient. You may want to just sleep on it?

Fridge leaking intermittently from the bottom

Sounds like your gasket may be going out. Consider replacing the gasket on the doors. Look for signs like small lines of frozen water that lead to the door or unexplainable excess ice in the bottom of the freezer.
I would also check for excess water in the condensation catcher tray, which may very well be located in the same spot under the ice maker. Depending on where you live (southeast, coastal, etc...) can have a strong contributing factor of having excess condensation, which will cause the tray to overflow.

Leaking water on floor only happens when making ice

I wonder if you just notice the noise now because the leak has you more aware? First things first. Lift up the arm on the ice maker (a few hours prior to attempting service) to stop it's operation. You need to roll the unit forward to give you access to the back. You'll see a plastic tube that runs from the bottom compartment (water valve) to the ice maker fill tube. Lower the arm of the ice maker and observe the plastic tube for the location of the leak. The most likely spot would be at the top. A hose clamp can be put on the fill tube after making sure the plastic supply tube is completely inserted into the fill tube. The fill tube is the piece that goes through the rear bulkhead and delivers the water to the icemaker. It may be neccessary to remove the icemaker to thaw out the fill tube using a hair dryer.

Water is leaking from the ice maker. It is

Are you sure the ice maker is leaking? MOst often it is a blocked drain. The problem you are experiencing is normally a blocked evaporator drain line. Whether you have a side by side model or a top mount freezer the solution is relatively the same. Most top mount freezer models have a rear evaporator panel covering the aluminum evaporator coils. There are some instances where the evaporator coils are on the floor. These instructions are for top mount freezers where the rear freezer panel covers the evaporator coils. First of all, if there is an ice maker in your unit, this will have to be removed. Normally there are two screws which can be loosened and the body of the ice maker can be lifted off the screws leaving only a plug in harness to disconnect. Remove the harness either from the plug at the left wall or rear of the freezer and set it to the side. Next, remove all the screws securing the rear panel. Remove the rear panel exposing the aluminum evaporator coils. Be careful not to damage these coils as they contain the freon that cools your refrigerator. If you look closely underneath these coils, there will be ice from frozen defrosted water. Using a hair dryer and not a heat gun, melt all the ice and sop up the water with a towel. Now you will see a drain hole which is normally still blocked with ice. Pour hot water in this hole and sop it up. Keep doing this until you pour water down the hole and it drains into the evaporator drain pan either under or behind your refrigerator. Once you have unblocked this drain line, reassemble and plug the refrigerator back in. Set all controls to the middle settings and within 24 hours, your unit will be functioning correctly once again.
