The impeller on this Hayward pump unthreads counter clockwise.
Take a big flat head screw driver and put it on the center shaft on the back of the motor to hold the shaft solid while you unthread the impeller.

SOURCE: My pool pump is 2 months old. It is a Hayward 1hp

The capacitor is probably bad. It's under the cover on the side of the motor, Take a look and smell it. A motor shop has them, or Grainger

SOURCE: The pump only hums when plugged in. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the impellor is locked. Take this part off and then see if the pump is turning but before you do, some of them have a big screw driver slot in the shaft. If it does, turn it to see if you can free the impellor. I have done this many times and they will continue to work for years after. They just get stuck from rust, etc. and also being frozen a little. Hope this helps.

THe skimmer is not pulling much water in from the pool

if you have ever run the pump without the strainer baskets, this might be the problem. it doesnt take much debris to block the impellers and reduce the water flow. if this is the case, you will have to split the pump and use a shop vac to remove all the debris from the impeller

Can I upgrade from Hayward 2hp ao smith pool pump to 2.5hp

Hi,
Yes you could upgrade the motor from a 2.0 to a 2.5 but this will not result in an increase of your water/pressure flow?
This would slightly reduce the load on the motor as the impeller inside the pump is specifically matched to the your motors amperage.

MY PRESSURE IS ONLY A 5 AND IS USUALLY 18-20 WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. WE BACKFLUSED AND DID WHAT THE BOOK SAID BUT DID NOT WORK

Check your impeller. Remove the pump motor from the housing to inspect the impeller. Be prepared to replace the seal.

Let me know what you find.

We have an older model Hayward Power Pro LX pump. The pump is running but no water is pumping through. Can't find a tech drawing.

well of course you need to make sure the filters are not blocked up, Skimmer basket etc......I have seen on few occasions the impeller shaft has broken, so the pump runs like it doesn't have a trouble in the world.....but the impeller isn't turning, therefore no water flow.

Powerflo matrix pump is humming not pumping

I think you have a start/run capacitor issue or your impeller has spun its center out. Check the impeller first. If the impeller is intact, take your motor to your full service pool professional for repair.

Hayward flo pump motor repair

What exactly is wrong with your pool pump? If it won't start at all, check for improper or loose connections, blown fuses or tripped breakers, and open your switches and replays. Manually check the rotation of your motor shaft. Make sure that there is free movement and no obstructions. If the motor hums, but won't start, check for obstructions and check the Centrifugal switch to see if it is stuck in the open position. If you have low flow, check pool pumps for clogged or restricted strainer/suction line and discharge line of filter. You could also have an air leak in suction (bubbles issuing from return fittings). Low voltage could cause loss of suction. Check for plugged or restricted impeller.
