Insignia ns ltdvd26 09 capacitors

I have had to replace the 1000mf 10v capacitors twice now. The TV works great for a month, then blows again. What could be causing the capacitors to continue to go bad

It sounds like you are using the wrong type of capacitor. The replacements need to be low ESR, High temp, high ripple current series. capacitors from places like Radio Shack will not work. Here is a link to an article that talks about capacitor replacement and gives the correct brands and series that are rated correctly. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ If you use the wrong type they will overstress due to the operating conditions and blown out just like you keep experiencing.

SOURCE: Insignia NS-32LCD Backlight or Inverter bad???

If you've done the flash light test, it could be the inverter board became defective but it could also be that the power supply does not provide the +24VDC to the back light inverter board.
If you could do the +24VDC test using a voltmeter then we can say for sure that the back light inverter board is defective.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: capacitor size

Sure- that's the maximum rating. In fact, if Polaroid had used 35v rated caps in the first place, we probably wouldn't all be replacing them.

BTW another replacement that worked perfectly here.

SOURCE: Insignia NS-LCD37-09 turns on but no image

If your TV is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty. If not under warranty the defective parts could be the power supply or the back light inverter board. Both boards can be replace easily.
The way to know if you have a defective backlight inverter is by shinning a light from a flash light near the screen with the TV on and check in a 45 degrees angle if you have a dark video in the background, if the video is present then you have a backlight board failure. If no video, then is a power supply failure.
I have both boards if you want to buy them.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

SOURCE: Insignia NS-32LCD will not turn on.

Heat the bridge rectifier with a blow dryer and see it turn right on.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

It will not turn on. the red lights flickers on and off about 4 times and stops then continues to do it again.

I would check the capacitors on the power supply. Look for domed tops. Replace with same value. Should be either 1000mf/10v or 2200mf/10v.

Red power light is on but tv will not turn on...no blue light with either the remote or power switch on the tv.

Dear quiltcat1,

With the conditions as you say, there are components in the monitor, exactly on the power supply board is not working properly or damaged and it usually Capacitor.

The solution are:
1. Open the monitor case
2. Look for Power supply board, you will see there are some capacitors.
3. Look for bad capacitors which bulged at the top.
4. Just take out (you need a soldering tool in this step)
5. Replace with the same value of microFarad and higher values for Voltage.
for example: 1000mf 10V replace with 1000mf 10 to 25 V will be fine.

good luck.

regards,
dm
