Go to Dell.com there you will find under support downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and look for driver for video card. They should have it there. John
First, lay the tower down flat with the CD drive facing upward. There are darker colored buttons on the left and right side of the tower (from the front view). Push and hold these buttons in, then lift up from the rear of the tower. These are a ****-shell design so the back will tilt up and allow you access to the inside of the computer.
If your Dell doesn't look like this, then there is a plastic lever release on the back corner near the top corner (on the left side); Lift up slightly, and push the left side door towards the rear, and it should slide back slightly and off.
You can use any brand of Ethernet card in this computer as long as it will fit in the case. If your GX240 is packaged in the small form factor case, you'll need a low-profile card. (Low-profile cards have a shorter mounting bracket than regular-size cards which won't fit this case.) For the small desktop and mini-tower cases you can use any card.
If you want to avoid having to open the case and fit a new card, consider a USB Ethernet adapter. All you need to do is plug it in to an available USB port and you're done. No opening the case and worrying about installing a card. These adapters are available at some retailers and through online vendors.
Whichever way you go, just be sure to go into the computer's BIOS settings and disable the integrated network connection.
The fans on Dell power supplies are rather noisy and prone to failure. Find out if the noisy fan is inside the case or inside the power supply. If your computer has become slow you should scan for viruses and spyware. If the scan does not improve things it may be time for an upgrade.
The GX240 only supports up to 1 gigabyte of RAM, you should have the maximum installed. I would not spend more than $50 upgrading this computer, you can find better used ones in the $100-$200 range.
Never mind I figured it out ... but thanks anyway
