My okidata c5150 keeps having the attention button light up with the Service Call: 173: Fatal Error message appearing. After warming up and adjusting color and density, this error always appears. People have told me to reseat drums and cartridges, which I have done, and to change outlet, I have done that also, and have had no such luck fixing the problem. Any advice is much appreciated!
That is a fuser erron code. Abnormal temperature. You will need to replace the fuser. Sometimes I have sen a buildup of toner on the thermistor. If you can get to it. You can try to clean the toner off. Be careful. Very hot.

Service call 172: Error or 173: Error is Abnormal temperature detected by fuser thermistor (high-temp or low temp.) this is a bad fuser error more than likely when it says this you will need to replace the fuser assembly
If the printer is stored in a cold area, this error may come up. Allow the printer to warm up and try again.
If you can get to the thermistor, it could be coated with toner, clean the sensor with alcohol.

thank you, so much, i am going to buy a new fuser and then I'll let you know how it goes. Where is the thermistor exactly located?? Thank You, so much for your help, it is much appreciated, God Bless, I will let you know how it goes, if it works I will be more than happy to reimburse you for your time. Thanks again
Other advice said it is time to replace the fuser when you get a Fatal Error 173. But I just replaced the fuser, and now we get this 173 fatal error periodically. Any ideas?
this same error message started happening to me after i changed the fuser.
I replaced the fuser, then started getting this error. I got ANOTHER new fuser and put it in (thinking my new one was defective) and STILL get the error. Replacing the fuser is not fixing it ..... ?
where is the fuser exactly located?
