Zoom lense stuck

Zoom is fully extended and stuck in that position...the LCD screen is grey, and nothing else works. Power comes on and that's all. Took it into a camera store and they tried to disengage the "stuck" lense, but nothing budged. Please help.

Zoom lense stuck in extended position, power comes on briefly with blue screen and then cuts out, otherwise doesn't work. Have tried to reboot camera to get lense back in. No luck.

I just had the exact same problem with my camera! My husband noticed when he looked at it from the side angle that the lens was slightly crooked, he gently bent it back into place and it started working properly again right away.  Good Luck!

Finepix j27 When the camera is turned on "Zoom error" message appears and lense is stuck in an extended position. When the power is turned off, the lense remains extended. Do you know how...

hi, Zoom Error occurs when there the lenses are not able to move and something is obstructing the movement like some dust or sand grains etc., to dislodge the obstructing particles try tapping the lense side corner of the camera on a table top lightly (not too hard please, as the lense and autofocus combination is quite fragile) a couple of times in switch off mode and trying to power on after every 2-3 taps.

or you might send it out to a service centre, the charges are generally just the serviceing charges as no new parts needed.

hope this helps
cheers

I HAVE A SONY DIGITAL CAMERA DSC T-20 AND HAVING AN ERROR MESSAGE E:61:10 PLEASE SEND ME HOW I CAN SOLVE THIS PROB LEM

Hello and Welcome

The symptoms of this error is
  • After pressing the power button in capture mode, the lens would extend and a slight humming from what appeared to be the auto focus motor could be heard for about 5 seconds. When the motor stopped humming, the camera would beep and display E:61:00 in the LCD Screen.
  • Camera would extend the lens but not be able to focus on anything past 8 inches or so.
  • Zoom in and zoom out would not work.
  • Playback mode and the Setup mode was not affected.
To solve this
Put the camera about a half inch from a hard surface.
Let the lense go out and hit the surface and retract a little bit. Let it go out all the way when it tries the next time.
If that doesnt fix it, try this:
Turn it on and let the lense go out fully
See where the lens comes out of the camera? The little round crack that surrounds it? Wiggle the lense a bit and blow in there a bit. (Be sure not to blow on the lense!)

Now turn it off/on again, and it should be fixed

Cannon G7 need help

Hi
Had the same problem a few months ago. There was a high pitchedwhisltle and I think the screen said "lens fault.turn off camera" or something similar.Bought a G9 to replace as the 7 was out of guarantee but sent the 9 back to the e-bay reseller as it was obviously secondhand with grit around the lens ring and the viewfinder.Ebay never again!.So 3 months ago ago I tried the G7 again with a fresh charged battery before I consigned the camera to the loft.I noticed that each time i switched on the whistle and message was there but the lens extended slightly further each timeso I kept rebooting until the lens was fully extended.Turned the camera off and on again and everything was back to normal. It seems that this may be Canons protocol when a camera goes back. Its been absolutely fine until today. It wont boot up at all.I have tried 2 fresh charged batteries and its dead.Any ideas anyone?

Sony Cyber-shot Error Code E:61:00

Hi,

you may have these symptoms,
Symptoms :
  1. After pressing the power button in capture mode, the lens would extend and a slight humming from what appeared to be the auto focus motor could be heard for about 5 seconds. When the motor stopped humming, the camera would beep and display E:61:00 in the LCD Screen.
  2. Camera would extend the lens but not be able to focus on anything past 8 inches or so.
  3. Zoom in and zoom out would not work.
  4. Playback mode and the Setup mode was not affected.

To fix this problem,

Do these...

A) Put the camera about a half inch from a hard surface.
B) Let the lense go out and hit the surface and retract a little bit. Let it go out all the way when it tries the next time.

If that doesnt fix it, try this:
A) Turn it on and let the lense go out fully
B) See where the lens comes out of the camera? The little round crack that surrounds it? Wiggle the lense a bit and blow in there a bit. (Be sure not to blow on the lense!)

Now turn it off/on again, and it should be fixed!

If not, try these steps a few more times. If still nothing, then I suggest you to call Sony, but this DID work for 90%, so hopefully it''ll work for you :)

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Zoom and camera shuts off

Verify you have the right kind of battery and fully charge it.
The lense issue you describe commonly happens when the device cannot access enough power to function correctly, so it retracts and powers off to avoid getting your lense stuck in the 'out' position if the battery goes dry.

Panasonic DMC-FZ7 digital camera.

I believe the FZ7 determines that the lense cap is still on when it can't extend the zoom lense because the lense cap is in the way. I would check to see if your zoom lense housing is somehow stuck (could be sand or dirt in it) which is creating enough resistance to make the camera think the lense cap is impeding the zoom lense from extending.

Zoom extended but no power

You are going to have to send that in to be fixed. Even if you call tech support they would tell you that.
