My philips gogear SA52xx has froze at the loding point where 'Gogear' shows up. it wont continue onto the menu. it keeps happening even when i reset it.
You need to update the firmware to resolve the issue, but here are some pre-steps: Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged Try another USB port Reset the player If that fails: Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager: www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed Enter in your exact model # Click on the link for your exact model # Click on the Software & Drivers section Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software" Install the new Device Manager Open and run the "Repair" tab If still nothing: Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.
After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty. -Tha Mp3 Doctor

I also had Philips GOGEAR SA52xx. Philips provide In ear earphones for their device. I was also noticing sound quality loss in it. But one day when i cleaned my Inears(earphones) the sound quality was regained. So you will have to clean your ear phones. You will notice that after removing rubber buds..there is a metal net. you have to clean all the holes in it using a needle or any pointed object. It will improve the sound quality. It may sound weird to you...but trust me it happened to me n i was surprised .....cheers... :)
1 On your computer, select Start > Programs > Philips Digital Audio Player > Aria Device Manager > Philips Device Manager to launch the Philips Device Manager. 2 Turn off GoGear Aria before you continue. 3 Press and hold the volume button while you connect GoGear Aria to your computer. 4 Keep holding the key until the Philips Device Manager acknowledges GoGear Aria and enters the recovery mode. 5 On the computer, click the Repair button and follow the instructions of the Philips Device Manager to complete the recovery process. 6 When the recovery is completed, disconnect GoGear Aria from your computer. 7 Restart GoGear Aria.

I had this same problem. I had put GoGear Opus software on my SA52xx player. When I uninstalled the Opus software and resinstalled the SA52x, the problem went away.
if it has too many songs on it try deleting some of the songs off the player, and if thats not the case, stop using it for a few days then try to turn it on again
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
