Sounds like the color wheel or lamp I would check the lamp first to insure thats its not broken as they can make a pop when they fail sometime (Breaking) then I would check the color wheel you will be able to tell if the color wheel arear has the noise coming from it. im joel a simple electroncis tech. try to adjust the settings but it does'nt work the i think 3 color inside ( red,blue,green) is one or two of them is deffective.so the best solution try to go the expert tech nothing else

Sounds like a high voltage transformer failed.

You will need to call a serviceman to repair if your not technically handy and can solder.

did the loud noises come from the speaker or from the back of tv?

three strikes and it's out... rca does this, it is just showing it has tried 3 times for you and untill it is unplugged it won't try again.. you need to provide model #.. could be a few different things
hissing usually meens you have high voltage...that's good but then what don't you have?
ctc 169 - 179 could be high voltage divider... need more info

there is defective parts on your t.v, you have to consult it to some experts near you if you dont know how to do some electronics repair.

tv worked great, turned it off one day and back on the next and the on light would not come on nor would the tv work, rear projection 52 inch rca

sounds like the lamp has shattered. check the lamp

Does the set make any sounds. DOes the front green led light or flash when you try to turn it on.. if not then it could be as simple as a fuse, if it does flash then it can be many problems
