Hello, I am getting more and more frustrated as i have just bought a Panasonic NV-GS15 Mini DV Digital Camcorder brand new and i installed all the items and drivers from the disc onto WinXP with no hitch. When i then connected the cam via USB, i was then instructed by Windows to install the driver for this new hardware again...i found the driver on the installation disc...this happens every time... " Cannot install Hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware. -{= ( little USB symbol i think ). An error occurred during the installation of this device. The driver installation file for this device is missing a necassary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor. " I have even downloaded the drivers again from Panasonic's website but the exact same thing happens. I contacted them, but seeing how incredibly difficult they have made it to be contacted, i don't expect a useful reply any time soon... Anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do, other than throwing the camera out of the window ? Thanks!
Use USB data cable which u get with ur cam.Install the panasonic software also packed with cam.And get ur video copied to pc.But this is a slow process because of Movie copied while playing.

Hi - I have the same problem with my NV-GS15 - I have been having an ongoing discussion with Panasonic 'support' (like yeah) - they keep telling me that Vista should recognise it - but no go - it sees the connection but can only install an XP driver - because, yep, that's all that's available from Panasonic. I am currently waiting on yet another reply from them - please note, vebally abusing them doesn't work - will let you know if I get any joy - my next step is to write to management directly - am not holding my breath - as a last resort I connected my camera through a D-Link video grabber and it worked - but I'm surrounded by heaps of wire and really would like it all to be as simple as it should be - regards -
grrrrrrrrr, my word, seems i have the same problems too and my reply from panasonic was to - read this, lol:-
For video editing the camcorder must be connected via the camcorders 4 pin fire wire connection, labelled DV, to a fire wire connection on the computer. If your PC does not have a fire wire connection conforming to IEEE 1394 standards then this will need to be added to your PC. Your PC manufacture should be able to assist you in this case.
If you have Windows XP or Windows Vista. You will have Windows Movie Maker editing software built in. This is a basic editing package which can capture from the camcorder.
Alternatively, if you do not have Windows XP or Windows Vista or if you would like more editing features, you will also need to use third party DV video editing software, for example Adobe, Pinnacle etc. These can be purchased from a PC retailer.
If the fire wire socket on the PC is the same as the DV socket on the camcorder then you will need a 4 pin to 4 pin fire wire cable, Panasonic part number VW-CD1.
If the fire wire socket on the PC is larger than the DV socket on the camcorder then you will need a 6 pin to 4 pin fire wire cable that should be available from a PC retailer.
Dunno if this helps you, but it sure as hell didn't me, haha.
I have NV GS 15 video camera,Im not able to save the video on my computer. i have windows Xp.still images from the SD card gets saved.
