Microwave fan comes on when plugged in

Could be in one of the micro switches for the door or in the board. Most commonly one of the switches though.

Microwave overheats and keeps turning off All microwaves have some sort of a cooling fan to help keep the magnetron and controls at a tolerable level. Most OTR models will usually use the vent motor for the cooling fan also. Countertop units have a small fan behind the control panel somewhere. Either way, if the cooling fan is not working and heat builds up, it is going to open a thermostat. On some makes, this thermostat might re-set itself as soon as the temperature cools down. Other makes, you will have to replace the thermostat or fuse.
If this is your microwave oven repair problem, you will need to check the operation of the fan. Below in the component testing chart, you will see how to test the fan. Also, if possible, make sure the fan is not obstructed somehow and not turning. Also check your fan relay at your control board for voltage, if no voltage, replace control board. This fan should come on at the same time any cooking starts.

I have a one touch microwave & have misplaced the manual. The code F2 keeps coming up on the display. What does this mean?

F2 on a Whirlpool microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

Please reply back with your full model number from the tag in or on the unit so we can help you with an estimate or free DIY tips.

My GE spacemaker starts beeping and showing an F3 whenever I boil food underneath on my stove. Is this gonna be expensive. I can only get it to stop by unplugging.

I advise customers to always turn on the hood vent exhaust fan whenever cooking on the stove top to help keep grease, steam, and heat out of the controls of the microwave.

The heat is affecting (and may have damaged) your membrane keypad.

In some cases, this can lead to the microwave's coming on by itself, which can lead to a fire.

So if it does anything odd or comes on by itself (even once!) be sure to keep it unplugged or keep the door open when not in use.

And as with any microwave oven, never leave it running unattended.

Once you know your keypad is damaged (if it fails again) then it will have to be replaced.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.

But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.
That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

Either way, we can let you know what your options and costs would be and send you other helpful info.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me
directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Ge Microwave model JVM1650SH05 Error code F3. Microwave turns on by itself and keeps beeping

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

The easiest and quickest way to repair this yourself (it's easy) is to order a new control panel frame, which comes with a new keypad.

It's part # WB07X10959 and you can get it for $92.50 plus shipping here.

You can also find helpful exploded view diagrams at that link.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

Microwave oven fan will turn itself on and off constantly when not using the regular oven. Afraid to leave microwave plugged in because it comes on and goes off so much. Kenmore model 721.62649200

It may be a shorting pad (the hood / vent fan pad) on the keypad or a part on the control board.

Absolutely - If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

If you need a new keypad, that would add about $37 to that cost.
