I normally produce masters by downloading document directly from PC (windows XP) using a USB to parallel port adapter cable, this has worked fine for 3 years. Last week I went print a new document, pressed print, the riso showed data processing with the small status indicator at the bottom of the riso control panel showing data-mapping. Then instead of the master process beginning (set to full auto) the status just went back to idle and nothing happens. The riso will generate a master ok using the scanner, but not from the computer interface. I have tried using a different pc and a different connecting cable and reinstalling printer drivers. I have tried with a different drum but no difference. the odd thing is there are no error codes generated, it just seems to be ignoring the data once it has been received.
SOURCE: Can't scan
This sort of thing can be down to the fact the settings for communication to the printer is separate for printing/faxing/scanning. So you will need to find the scanning device (will usually be called HP3050 regardless, or something along the lines of that) and make sure it's set to communicate through USB and no other means.
SOURCE: Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error
With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.
To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

Try removing all ports from your laptop, then reboot, and then create just one USB port. Also, go to your hardware devices and make sure your usb ports don't have any question marks or yellow warning symbols. Be sure first that the drivers for your USB ports are installed and working first. This sounds either a faulty USB cord, which does happen, or USB drivers issues in your laptop. The printer is probably not the problem here.

Hello.
If there are no jobs in the print queue, be certain that your USB cable is snug.
If still a problem and there are jobs in the print queue, go to Printers and Faxes and delete your printer icon.
Note: Here's how to delete a printer icon in Windows 7:
1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
If you can't delete the printer, right-click it again, click Run as administrator, and then click Delete. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Restart your computer.
Reconnect the USB to your computer.
Your computer should see your printer. Install the printer driver.
If still a problem, since you have already changed the USB port on your PC, the USB printer cable or the USB/parallel converter is probably faulty.
Also, test the printer by installing on another computer, if available.
Hope this helps.
