Canon A80 camera-red tint and horozontlal lines on pictures

Had the Canon A80 for about 3 years. Have not used it that much but use to take great pictures. Now all my pictures ave a reddish tint (using no flash) and tiny horizontal line across the pictures. Someone told me it could not see green color in the pictures. Should I just get a new camera?
Thanks, Roy

I had the same thing happen to me last November. Canon has a recall of sorts on a wide range of older cameras. Apparently there is an issue with the sensor. Canon will fix the camera free under this recall program.

Here is a writeup of my experience with Canon's customer support (good):

Check your white balance...it may be set to something other than "auto white balance".

My A80 makes pictures with very thin horizontal line across the top of the picture. in the same series of shots, clouds and snow came out pink-tinted.

Are you looking at the photos on the camera screen or a computer screen? Camera screens can sometimes be the culprit, depending on lighting. Also, make sure you are not shooting into the sun, that can do weird things to an image sensor.

Cannon PowerShot A80. Pictures come out with red tint and what appears to be horizontal lines across complete image. However, record video without problem.

If camera shows previously taken pictures in playback mode and does notshow live view to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chipfailure. CCD imager will be replaced in your Canon A80 camera.
Canon offers free of cost ccd imager replacement, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.
