depends on when the laptop asks for the password. Is it when its first switched on BEFORE windows starts or is it the windows login password. If its before windows starts, is it asking for a hard drive password or a power on password

Are you certain you need to do the factory restore?

In order to do the factory restore you need to have a restore DVD or an uninfected partition on the hard-drive which contains the original install files

If you can boot in safe mode, run Windows restore and be sure to select a restore point/date at which you are certain the virus was not on the PC.

Press F8 on startup before the blue password box appears and you get the option to boot in safe mode.
