My Coby MP601-4G opens but stays stuck on the 'coby' page and it won't go further and I can't turn it off. Is it saveable? I love it :( (I once dropped it in water but that was over a year ago and I've never had any problems since.)
Check online for a reset. Should be a combination of your buttons, and volume all that jazz. If you can remove the battery do that and wait 5 mins. Plug back in. If you cannot remove battery then fix the factory reset (again look at their website or on this one)
95% of devices have this type of reset.
if that does not fix it then its broke.
good luck

You may want to call Coby's cust svc, since the documentation on the website is a little spotty - Customer Care: 1.800.727.3592
If you have the user manual, check and see if there is a "reset" method - this will turn your player off when it freezes.
Then, hold in the volume + button while the player is off, and connect it to your computer - after continuing to hold the volume + button for several seconds, a Windows XP enabled computer will load the missing drivers. It should pop up a window that says "Found New Hardware wizard: Recovery Mode"
Finally, you can try reformatting the player in windows Media Player. connect the device to the computer, and bring up the drop-down menu underneath the Sync tab - select your player, and select "Format player"
You will most likely need to get a firmware upgrade from Coby's website www.cobyusa.com, although I had a difficult time finding your exact model number - their cust svc may be able to direct you to the right place.

Here are a few suggestions:
1-Did you try charging it? If the battery is dead, You may have trouble turning it on. :P
2-If you accidently got some water in it, even a drop, that could be your problem(I've broken 1 to many things this way)
3-Did you have it near a microwave while the microwave was going? A microwave usually states instant death for mp3players and cellphones.
I'd suggest buying a new battery for it and if that doesn't work, you probablly got it wet, and will have to buy a new one.
I hope I could be of assistance, have a nice day! =D

1. Make sure the hold switch is in the "off" position.
2. If the light comes on but your media doesn't play, it could be that you've load files which have DRM applied. The player does not support DRM, and thus can't play the files.Try playing a file that you are 100% certain does not have DRM applied.
3. If the light does not come on, the battery is fried (if LiPo batteries discharge past a certain point, they have a tendency not to recharge, no matter how long you leave it on charge). Return the player to the store where you purchased it.
