Heater furnace doesn't want to turn on'

I have a intertherm heater (ultraflex) model 431900 about 24yro. just last wednesday, march 11,09. i turned the heat on in the morning and it didn't want to turn on (firstime it happened). i thought the thermostat was the problem,so i bought a new thermostat and replaced the old one. after i installed the new thermostat, the furnace didn't turned on also. all the wirings were connected properly. can somebody help me what could possibly the problem or what went wrong? thanks,

I fixed the solution on my furnace heater that won't come on.

I pryed open the front cover of my furnace and opened the

small door below where all the electrical connections were and

the four fuses. I found out that two of my fuses were burned,

because they got overloaded due to my dirty filter. The fan

is having a hard time taking air into it, that is why my fuses

got burned. Always check and wash your furnace filter every three weeks or so, to prevent your fuse from getting burn. I bought four new fuses to the hardware and replaced the old four fuses together. Now my furnace heater is working. I hope this could help others, if you guys have the same problem with your heater furnace. Thanks

    to dshea1222 anyway.

I have an old Intertherm gas-fired furnace, Model MGH-055AB which ceased operating last night. It was quite warm when I arrived home, and when I set the heat up a little, began to hum, but the fan would...

Tom P's answer is generally correct: The motor start capacitor is usually not the problem. However, in some cases, particularly on older furnaces, where there were capacitors of certain make and production run will prematurely fail. This happened in March on a mobile home HVAC unit where both the blower fan and condenser fan motor capacitors failed open circuit. Both caps were of the same Mfg, and production lot.
Here is a suggestion (for you or an electrically inclined friend): Locate a substitute motor capacitor having similar Mfd (or MF) and Voltage ratings. Remove power from the unit. Reach into the blower squirrel cage and spin it to verify that the shaft is not frozen. Pull the wires from the existing capacitor noting color and location. Connect the wires to the substitute capacitor and secure it place. Apply power and turn on the blower. A no start? Motor replacement time.

Intertherm gas furnace

It appears your furnace is a downflow furnace. The sensor will be located near the bottom of the furnace. When you first turn it on, you should see a red glow.....this is the hot surface ignitor. Normally, the Hot Surface Ignitor is located on one end of the burners and the Flame Sensor is located on the oppoosite end of the Burners.

Intertherm ultraflex mobile home furnace

Is this a 120v motor, or 220v? If you checked for power, I assume you kind of know your way around a meter. When checking for power, don't check to ground, check the line. You could have power going in, but unless its going back out, completing the circuit, or missing a leg, in 220v case, it still will not work. Also, most heaters have some sort of delay, so after you hook it back up, and the burner heats up wait a few minutes for the fan to come on.
