Need to install network printer to DLink Router

I have an HP Laserjet 4000 with HP Jetdiret 600N Internal Print Server. I want to connect this to my DLink Router for a network printer. How do I do this?

  • G W Mar 14, 2009

    beeveez,
For the First part, how does one identify the printer is in thr range with the LAN IP?

  • G W Mar 14, 2009

    Beeveez,
The router is a D-Link Di-624. It does not have a config page. It only shows the IP address of itself, but none of the attached devices (printer,Linksys Phone adapter, my computer). Are you aware of any ways to find the IP Address of attached devices/

    Thanks ..

It has been a few months, so you probably have resolved this -- but just in case someone else is looking to find out the IP address on the internal print server of an HP Laserjet 4000n printer so they can set it up on their network, here are the steps to find the IP address on the HP JetDirect internal print server:

1. Have the Ethernet cable plugged in to the router and the JetDirect 600n card and power it on.
2. Make sure display screen on printer says "Ready".
3. Press the Menu button on the printer until you see Information Menu.
4, Press the Item button on the right (+) side until you see Print Configuration page.
5. Press the Select button and a configuration page should print.

One page is the printer's configuration and the other page is the print server configuration page. If you have a good JetDirect card, and good connection to your router, the IP address of the printer, plus its subnet mask and default gateway should be shown on the EIO configuration page.

If the printer has been manually set with a static IP address, subnet mask and default gateway that will not work on your network, you will see the settings will indicate "Configured by" User Specified.

To clear those settings and allow DHCP setting, perform a cold reset on the JetDirect card, by powering off the printer, holding down the green "Go" button and powering it back on until you see "COLD RESET," let go of the green Go button, wait a couple of minutes, then run another configuration page to see the freshly assigned DHCP address of the print server.

Hope this helps someone.

- First, you have to make sure the Printer you were attempting to install is in range with the LAN IP Address of your D-Link router.
- Second, You have to run the Add a Printer Wizard.

    - Logon to the config page of your router to see the listed IP Addresses on your network.

Have a linksys router tring to get adlink print

Did the dlink print server come with an installation disk? If so, you probably need to run that. It will help you set up a virtual printer port that you can then choose when adding a printer. For seting up two printers, you'll have 2 different virtual printer ports. For example SCB77031_P1 and SCB77031_P2.

If you need more help, please let me know what model linksys router and dlink print server

Does dlink printserver support tvs msp printers

What is the IP of the Print Server and the Printer itself? They have to be on a 'flat network' or the gateways of the the 'adjacent' networks have to be defined as a neighborhood.

Hi, I connected the printer server GPSU01U to a dlink 524

When you connect the print server to the router, does the lights lit? have you tried to reset the print server (reset button is on the side of the print server). press the reset button for 10 seconds, after 10seconds, while still holding the reset button power cycle the print server (unplug then replug the power cable) then release the reset button. Try to find the print server using the PS admin.

Can't connect a Dlink 1260 Print server through my Linksys wireless G router

A couple of things to check for:

  • If the wireless network is encrypted on your router verify that you have the right encryption key programmed on the print server
  • You are connecting to the corret router (Verify the SSID of the network - SSID being the networks name)
  • Make sure you are in an acceptable range , not 500 feet away from the router
  • Verify that the print server has a connection to the printers connected to it
  • Try rebooting all of the equipment (router , server, printers)
