Question about Haier Refrigerators
My Haier mini fridge started freezing things a couple of days ago. I adjusted it from 5 to 4, and it froze worse. Oops, must have read the scale backwards. Went to 6, and froze even worse. Turned it to OFF, and it kept running. Uh-oh. Unplugged it overnight, plugged it back in, with the dial on "off" (I can feel the dial "click" between "Off" and "1"), and it started right up. Seems like it runs 100% of the time when there's power. Bad thermostat? Looks like a $15 part. Hard to replace? I don't know. Is it worth putting $15 into an 8-year-old fridge that I could replace with a new one for about $70?
Yes your thermostat is shorted. It's just not shutting the unit off ever. A thermostat is something you can touch as a user, so no it's not that hard to get to for replacement. Also have the unit unplugged while learning how to repair your appliance.

SOURCE: We have a Whirlpool gb22dk
1st.Check the freezer door gasket for any place it maybe torn or not making a 100% seal when you close the door. That would make temperature drop. 2nd.take off bottom kick plate so you can look under the refrigerator.Using a flashlight make sure there is not alot of lint / dust stuck on the coils .If there is remove it carefully and you will see temperature lower. PLEAS RATE THIS!

see if the compressor motor is running
The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.
If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

Your condenser is likely dirty clean it. the compressor could be tripped out on over load (to hot) unplug the fridge a couple hours should do it . plug it back in make sure the thermostat is on and set correctly if that does not work you will need service. Tom
