My compaq presario keeps going dead on me

why, well all PC s fail. every one , owned long enough.
Just like cars, same reason (entropy)
USA model. laptop, relic
first Presario was year 2000.
last update 2004 drivers
runs XP, are you running the worse virus magnet on earth.
what will be wrong, lots. (non monitor told)

1. CMOS coin cell dead long ago, must replaced $1 part.
2. HDD bad.
3. XP is infected. (and will repeat endlessly)
4. Huge battery too, is bad, leave it out run on AC power pack.

there is no support for this PC, at HP.com, .

this pc sold from 2012 to 2014 and is NOT NEW, at all.
sold with W7 and W8, only, new all have w10,
And HP does support still. (my guess till 2024)

how to fix a LT , that is I presume DEAD .? black screen
simple steps on all DEAD LT

1. take out the battery does it work now y/n???????
2. does the ESC key BIOS key work? power on hammer ESC or F9 or F11, if those all work the BIOS IS GOOD and power is ok
3. if BIOS is dead the power pack is bad. (or worse, worse in not limited at all with over 3billion transistors inside.

The power pack is bad if the PC will not run with AC only. battery out.
the pack can be bad. AC line pack its like $15 , vastly less than the typ. $300 shop labor charge alone..

if its only 5 months old you should still have warranty on it you should contact the place of purchase before doing anything
try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
try blowing the dust from the fan and your laptop computer computer dust will cause static which can cause a computer to overheat and many unforseen problems also
you could get a usb laptop cooling pad they are very cheap and your laptop will love you for it

CQ is a model prefix for a COMPAQ like Compaq Presario CQ62
CQ is not company or web site, its a model prefix.
why not start over.,
and ask for help first
say I have this Presario

that is first. do not use non HP media or you ill fail

BSOD has VAST Causes. but ill list the top ones.
Id scrap it and get newer system. sure would.

BSOD 101

1. bad PSU. lower low, or damaged from lighting or surged. or too old, yes, most this old now are DEAD.
2. Bad memory, remove all sticks put back 1 by 1, see if it runs on 1 that is good. if no second stick ,get out crying towel, hard to buy them.
3. CPU is overheating ever clean out the 2 lbs of lent inside, get all FANS TO ACTUALLY work.. the PSU has a fan, most do , and MUST WORK RIGHT.
4. windows XP is corrupted, most are , watch the news lately?
5. windows is infected. caused it to crash. BSOS are CRASHES.
6. bad mobo.. that is correct things on the MOBO can and do fail.
7. bad HDD, the HDD can go bad then corrupt files and now BSODS.
8. and more, but ill stop here. get it fixed? there are tests to do , many, but IM not doing A+Certification , pub here.

why not go to (USA) Goodwill (tm) store and buy a 5 year new PC for $20 .?

then you fail to tell what OS is running,
guess what that matters, (we know what it was new but....)
if it's XP and or vista is does, XP is dead now for 4 years.+
and worse IE is even more dead, and now banned on many web sites and is an expanding *****.

did you go to MX owned skype home page and read the minimum requirement there, first?

there are 3 issues here.

1. XP is dead.
2. your XP microphone be died
3. your XP webcam is dead, all very normal now.

My power plug that goes in the computer gets hot enough to melt the plastic ring on the end of the plug. so i am going to get a new power board and try that.

Last Month i Purchse Laptop Compaq Presario V3702TU With Vista Home Basic. Wrongly I delete the Partition and again I Installed Vista Home Premium down load all Drivers and install only Web Camera Driver not installed kindly help me out how to installed web camera driver on vista home premium 32 bit.

If you are getting garbage on the screen before windows tries to load the laptop probably has a bad motherboard.

It's possibly only the video output is going bad on it, try hooking it to an external monitor and see if you get the same weird stuff on that screen.
