You can also use 2SD2560 and 2SB1647 130watt 150volt 15amp transistor, but it may require some rebiasing the on output transistors. Sherwood have used these transistors in their older model receivers. I just replaced those transistors in my Sherwood RX-4105 Receiver, and they work good as well.

Before I install those transistor. I did a out of circuit 20volt 4amp DC current test to a 4ohm resistor @ 200watt load to compare 2SD2560 / 2SB1647 to the B2510/B1510 mounting them on 5 square inch, 1/8" thick piece of Aluminum, and the results of the test, the 2SD2560 / 2SB1647 heats up in 60 seconds to around 120 degrees F, and the B2510 and D1510 heats up in 30 seconds to around 120 degrees F.

After replacing those audio power output transistors, run a cooling system on top of the receiver blowing into the vent holes, so that it would extend the life of those transitors.

I am running a 10inch 55watt 120volt AC fan on top my Sherwood receiver blowing into the vent holes, and it keeps the heatsink temperature down to, or under 100 degrees F(37.77 degrees Celcius) while I have the volume control set at 56 for 6 continuous hours. Without a cooling system with the volume control set at 56, that Sherwood's heatsink temperature can climb as high as 150 degrees F (65.55 degrees Celcius), and that's too hot to touch, and the heatsink temperature can climb even higher. The Audio Output transistor's maximum internal temperature or junction temperature is 302 degrees F (150 degrees Celsius), and if it exceeds that temperature, the transistor would fail.

The actual part numbers are: 2SD1510 and 2SB2510. Perhaps the easiest for you would be to use NTE substitutes as follows:

2SD1510 ==> NTE261

While I don't have a direct cross for 2SB2510, the compliment to the NTE261 is an NTE262. These are complimentary darlington transistors and should be the correct ones for you. Please re-check the markings on the transistors to verify them.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I am having the same problem. With a Sherwood rx-4109 (very similar model) same output transistors. I ordered 2sc2390 and 2sa1560 today. If you want to know how it turns out, I should know by next Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

I have a Sherwood RX-4105 Receiver and I am getting no sound through my speakers and the connection with the wires is good so its not that. Any Idea on whats wrong?

when you turn your computer you should hear a sound of a relay initially and after about two seconds another sound, is the closure of the speaker relay models if you do not hear the sounds, the team has some short audio output.

You can use standard TV cable (RG-59/U) or for a long run the white RG-6/U which has lower signal loss

Does the sherwood rx 4105 receiver have analog or digital inputs

Unfortunately the RX-4105 is a stereo only receiver with only analog L/R inputs. You will have to find a stereo output & go in through one of the stereo inputs.

When connecting my speakers one side of the receiver is not working any suggestions?

You have a bad output transister in receiver this is common for the 2 channel Sherwoods. Not worth fixing if your not inclined in the electronic field. It will cost more than the receiver to fix. Sorry for the bad news Good luck.

Not able to locate B2510 and D1510

It would have been helpful to know on which kind of component you found these numbers but since you didn't, I'll just guess:
Power transistors? (You could at least mention how many leads next time.)
If so, add the characters '2S' in front of each (such as: 2SB2510) and you might have better luck.

Can I hook the reciever to mm bose subwoofer and 5

if bose unit has built in amplifier .Then your sherwood would have to have a variable RCA output jacks in order to work with sub. Then bose audio input RCA cable would connect there. If bose unit does not have built in amp .Then you would connect sherwood left/right speaker outputs into bose left/right inputs .Then other bose speakers will connect to bose unit

Sherwood RX-4105 Receiver will not stay on

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your unit has either a bad power supply or bad transistors and need serviced. Under 200 for the repair however, I'm not sure what the unit sells for new but weight the costs vs replacement. Hope this helps
