Here is a general case solution that might work even if you don't have the manufacturer's expensive adapter if you have some tech skills. Check the input plug on the radio. If you are lucky it should have a symbol next to it with a dot within a circle. The dot gives the polarity of the center connector and the circle gives the polarity of the outer connector of the plug. If you are super lucky, you will have the correct adapter already in your parts bin. Otherwise, you can buy universal 12V power adapters online from all electronics and radio shack. They include just about every kind of plug option and also some feature to select polarity. You can try the various plugs and find the one that fits perfect & then set the correct polarity. The current is not so important as long as you meet or exceed the required capacity which is often not given. Both universal adapters can provide 1000 mA which should be more than adequate. There is always a chance to screw up any electronic part; I can attest to that, but I keep 2 or 3 universal 12V power bricks on hand and have used them for many tech items.

How can i hook up a car stereo in the garage without using a car battery, and get the same juice as far as wattage and power???

Wire a 12 volt AC adapter to it. Connect the power to the positive wire, & the ground to the negative wire. If it's a low power unit a 1 amp adapter will work. If it's a high powered unit you might need a 12 volt 5-10 amp adapter designed for monitors, TVs, monitors, & some laptops. Beware some laptop AC adapters can be 16-36 volts. Make sure you use a 12 volt one, & know which wire is positive, or you'll burn it out.

What volt adapter for WD 3200H1U-00?

Most external hard disks use a 12 volt 2 amp power supply. The modern ones are small and cheap. Be aware the power plug should be the same as the power plug on the old power supply. and the polarity also.

My tv Adapter is not working and i need another one . this what is at back of the ADAPTER AC ADAPTER SN 0530+___O___- MODEL ;AD0603S110/220-12 INPUT:100-240V~1.5A. 50-60HZ .OUTPUT:12VDC= 5A THAT...

The important information is the output voltage (12 volts DC) and current (5 amps). You need an adapter with those ratings and a plug with the proper size and polarity to fit the TV. If necessary, you can salvage the output cord from the bad adapter and splice it onto a replacement if you can't find one with the right plug. You need to be careful to get the polarity right or you can damage the TV. Most sets have the center pin positive, but you want to check to be sure. The set usually is marked with the information, and it may also be on the old adapter.

You may be able to find an exact replacement adapter by searching for your specific TV brand and model number and "replacement power adapter". Many adapters are available through eBay sellers. Otherwise just look for a 12-volt 5-amp adapter and change the output cord as described if necessary.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

I have Yamaha psr 260 and I am connect on 24V, and now speakers dont work. What am I doing?

I believe that is the wrong VOLTAGE !!!

The PSR takes a 12 volt, 1 amp or more DC power supply with positive on the pin.

If you have connected 24 volts either AC or DC of either polarity you have likely caused internal damage. Try a 12 volt DC supply and if it doesn't work, it needs to go to a repair facility.

ALWAYS check the voltage and the polarity on ANY of the devices using the power adapters BEFORE connecting the adapter..

Please i need the power adapter rating for seagate

Have you got the original power adapter?
If so the voltage details are printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter.
If the external USB Seagate hard drive houses a 31/2" drive then it requires an power adapter that provides +12 volts and +5 volts both supplying approx 2000mA of current.
If the Seagate uses a 21/2" (laptop) hard drive then it only requires +5 volts power adapter.
The only problem is the power connector to the external drive, make sure it suits the external hard drive unit and the power pins are correctly wired for the Seagate. If the polarity of the plug is incorrect lt wired (ie reverse polarity) then it could damage the USB hard drive and adapter case.

I lost the AC adapter for my Vector Compact Elite 300 amp jumpstarter (veco11). What output adapter should I use to charge it? I have a 12 volt that doesn't seem to work.

You need about 14 volts to charge a 12 volt battery. The original charger MAY have some form of current limiting in it.

ALSO pay attention to the polarity of the charger.

Voltage/polarity of power supply for NEC pcmcia 4 port USB2 card

If you KNOW it is 5 volts then you only need to make sure that the amp is higher and never lower. Higher amp only means it can work without getting too hot. But the VOLTS MUST BE precise. For polarity it is MOST common to have the center pin PLUS and outer NEG/GND. When I fix laptops and put the powercord wrong nothing happens. When I get it right then lights go on on PC.
