Onkyo sound popping / protected shows in the display

Lightening recently struck near our home. My Onkyo receiver is plugged into a Monster 3600 power filter. However, after the lightening strike, my receive now generates lots of noise and popping when I turn the volume up. Also it will pop, then show "protected" in the display, and an internal fan comes on. Is my receiver cooked, or can it be repaired?

I had an Onkyo receiver before with no problems until lightening got it. When I turn up the volume to medium, the system shuts off after a few seconds. I read that the regulator was bad. How do I get a new one installed?

It depends on what happened to the receiver. Have you tried to connect up the unit to the wall socket yet, without the Monster power strip? If that does not help you, and the unit still gets pops and goes into protect mode, you have an issue with one of the output stages in the amp. I'm afraid that this type of repair can only be diagnosed by a tech who knows how to trouble shoot solid state amplifiers. You may also contact Monster cable, as if you can get the tech to agree with you on the cause of the problem, most of the Monster Cable power strips come with a warranty against this problem from happening and will pay for the repair. Good Luck

My onkyo HT RC330 will not power up at all. Have had problems past couple of months with starting it but if you played around with swith it would start. Now nothing.

Try resetting the AV receiver To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press 8 ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.

It is possible that the protection circuitry has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall.. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and then leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect only the power cord and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver stays on, set then the volume to minimum, disconnect the power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer.

If the standby light is lit it and the unit will not boot it is most likely that the protection circuit has been activated. If there is no standby light then check the fuses. These units check that the power supplies are operating near specification. If a capacitor or resistor in the circuit, or a broken solder connection the unit will shut down. Because of the temperature the thermal cycling around the power supplies a broken solder joint can occur. This will make for an intermittent operation.

Hope this helps.

Onkyo HT-RC360 The receiver has a clicking sound when powered on. then turns off

No! I'am afraid not, if you have checked your wires carefully and it checked, the audio output semiconductors will require a technician to remedy the problem.

Had a storm lightening struck something lights went out came back on but router dosnt have solid green light just flashing orange light modem dosnt see the router but if i plug in to laptop bypassing...

It appears lightening has damaged your router. Do you have a surge protected powerboard and do you plug all your computer equipment into this powerboard?
If you do not have a surge protection board, I suggest you install one to protect your equipment.

Last night I finished hooking up my new Onkyo 7.1 HT-S5200 system. I used three HDMI cable to connect my TV, Blueray, and cable box. I upgrade the speaker wire to 16ga. The system is plugged into a Monster...

Turn everything off but the receiver. If it stays on turn another one on and see if it pops off if not continue. Most receivers have a pause start to prevent power surge. If it continues remove the protector and try the unit alone.

We had a near lightning strike and now my tv (sanyo model ht27744)doesn't want to come on.

Lightening may have caused a surge on your power lines to the house and to the outlet the TV was on.
Do other things work on that outlet? If not you tripped a power breaker. If they do work check this.
Unplug the TV for 2 min or more and plug back in.
Try bypassing your surge protector you had it plugged into. It could have died when the lightening struck.
(no surge protector?) Bet you'll buy one for your next TV.
Look for 3000 joules and up rating for a surge protector and insure it has protection for a cable/antenna input too.
If this doesn't work the TV may be fried or internal fuse blown.
Time to take it to a repair shop or depending on it's age (5 years+) it may be time to buy a new TV and surge protector.
Near Lightening strikes can effect appliances from several inputs that could be affected from outside like Power, Cable, Antennas, Phone Lines that come into your house.
